location:

I was having problems booting Windows 7, so I attempted to use the Bootrec.exe tool to rebuild the my BCD. But I screwed that up big time.....
Now I get the following error message on a black screen when I attempt to boot up:
Windows Failed to start. A recent hardware change or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
File: \Boot\BCD
Status: 0xc0000098
Info: The Windows Boot Configuration Data file does not contain a valid OS entry

WorldWide Windows 7 Black-Screen-of-Death?
location:
7forums.com - date:
April 21, 2013
It seems to have started at around noon yesterday. I have about 10 Windows 7 computers I maintain for various businesses.
Each one of them, starting at around noon on the 15th, started calling me about their systems locking up and when rebooted, Windows 7 Stalls at the point where it shows a black screen and mouse, right before it shows the Windows 7 Load screen, the default screen with the flowery objects on it.
I was able to fix 5 of them by using my Windows 7 install disks, by using the restore point right before this happened. Only one of the machines, had NO restore points and I had to do a fresh install.
Was there some kind of Windows update, or maybe a virus that got distributed widely? All of the affected systems had Malwarebytes

Hey there, so last night before bed I shut down my computer. It updated before shutting down just like it always does. But this morning when I woke up the only think it will boot to is a black screen with the mouse cursor. I have tried repairing, then
restoring with no success. I have attempted to repair and restore off a mounted USB as well.

Windows 7 Welcome Screen doesn't display user account
location:
microsoft.com - date:

On the welcome screen only one user account shows. The other account can only be accessed under the title Other Users. In the other users title you have to type in the user name and password.
I want to be able to log on to the other account by typing my password only, just like the welcome screen on XP.
How do you make the welcome screen more like XP, with more than one user account showing.

How do I hide Windows 7 Welcome Screen
location:
7forums.com - date:
January 20, 2012
I run Windows 7 Home Premium (64) with IE8 and MSE.
When I power the PC on I first get the "Windows Starting up" screen with the Windows 7 logo and then I get the blue "Welcome screen" with the flower stalk image across it. I don't get or want the logon password box and there are no User Account details or pictures on the screen - it's just "Welcome". As this screen serves no purpose for me I would like it to be hidden/disabled so that at boot the PC would go from the "Windows starting" screen straight to my "Desktop" (I am the only user and the PC is in a secure environment).
I have searched extensively for an answer and tried all the recommended steps - control userpasswords2 and then u

Windows XP Blue Screen of Death after upgrading RAM
location:
microsoft.com - date:
January 2, 2013
Hi All,
I have recently upgraded my PC with 4GB RAM (Previously it was 1GB only). For first few days the system worked perfectly, but now performance of my PC is very slow and I am frequently getting Blue Screen of Death Error. My PC's Configuration is as below:
OS: Windows XP SP2
Processor: Intel Dual Core 2.8GHz
RAM: 4GB (Transcend DDR2) - I have removed 1GB RAM and replaced it with two 2GB RAMs.
Hard-disk: 160GB
Moreover, on the same system, I have one more hard-disk of 500GB on which I have installed Windows 2003 Server Edition. There is no problem on Windows 2003 server and it utilizes complete 4GB of RAM.
Kindly help me to resolve the Windows XP issue.
Thanks.
