Upgrade to Windows 10 fail. Error 8004100E
location:

I've been trying to upgrade to Windows 10 for a while now, but I keep getting the error code 8004100E. Windows update seems to think it is downloading fine, but when it restarts in order to configure the windows 10 update, it just boots windows 7 as normal.
I've tried deleting everything in the softwaredistribution downloads folder, but that doesn't seem to help.
I've also tried using the windows 10 media creation tool to download it and create an iso, but this also fails.
I've noticed that when windows update thinks that the upgrade has downloaded and ready to be installed that there is only about 450mb in the downloads folder of C:windows/softwaredistribution where I figure it should be closer to 3GB.
Thanks in advance for the h

How to stop Windows 10 from installing from tray icon?
location:
7forums.com - date:
June 16, 2015
I notice now that there is this white Windows icon in my taskbar and out of curiosity, I clicked it and see that you can opt in to have Windows 10, the full version, for free. I like to checkout new Windows OS versions, but I hate Windows 8 and would not like Windows 10 "forever" if I try it. I went through the process of saying yes and to my horror, at the end I got a notice that when Windows 10 is released at the end of July, it would be installed!
Whoa, whoa, whoa! I wanted an option on this, not have it rammed down my throat one day after rebooting! This little Windows icon now has me believing that in a month or so, I will reboot to Windows 10 and lose my Windows 7 setup. I don't want this, I just want to see what it is like

location:

Hello Everyone:
I'm a new member so bear with me.
I was trying to help a friend with his windows updates, Window 7 Home Premium 64 bit, now he had reserved the windows 10 upgrade and it had already downloaded. Some how, and I don't know how , I inadvertly started the installation. I stopped it right then shut down the PC and rebooted. But now everytime he opens windows update it starts installing windows 10 upgrade. I can't seem to stop it.
So, now after I've messed this whole thing (I thought would be easy) up and not wanting to screw it up worst, I'm coming to you guys or gals for help on how I might be able to remedy this screw up.
My friend is not very happy with me and to be truthful I'm not very happy with me either.
SOS ... P

How to get rid of "Get Windows 10" popup for good?
location:
7forums.com - date:

Hello everyone:
We have several Windows 7 desktops in our office. They are the only OS that will ever be installed on those systems. Since about a month ago I started seeing this nuisance:
First I tried to close it "gracefully" by looking for "exit", "close" or "don't bother me again" button. I found none.
I then started looking for a solution and someone suggested killing the gwx.exe task via Task Manager and then removing a couple of tasks in the Task Scheduler. (Unfortunately I didn't save the link with more details.) This method seems to have worked for a couple of weeks until recently one of the Windows updates brought that thing back.
Is there any way to get rid of that popup for
