Making Windows 10 a bit more private and secure
By Susan Bradley
During and after Windows 10 installation, there are security settings you'll want to review to help protect your personal information. If you used the Express settings option during Win10 setup, you'll want to go back and review some of the default configurations.

Windows 10 upgrade: To be or not to be, that is the question!
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
August 13, 2015
I'm not one to jump at the first version of anything. Therefore, I am inclined to stay away from upgrading to Win 10. Currently have WIn 7 Pro on 3 machines. Since I value the opinion of my fellow Windows Secrets users, I am asking to see how many Windows Secrets users have or will upgrade to WIn 10? NOrmally I would ignore it but Win 10 now is free. As soon as I decide to upgrade it will be $100-$150 so I'd like to avoid paying for 3 machines and I would like to avoid getting Win 10 but I will to avaid paying! Your thoughts! Thanks a lot in advance!! Ed Boyd

Want to Control Windows 10 Privacy?

I have taken this from Eileen's Lounge:
Free Privacy Tool for Windows 10
Windows 10 by default sends a lot of data from your computer to Microsoft - see for example Windows 10 Privacy: http://www.eileenslounge.com/viewtop...p?f=55&t=20552. The privacy settings are spread over several dialogs, and some of them are deeply buried, so it takes some time to review them all.
The free utility O&O Shutup10: http://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10 lets you review and manage all these privacy settings in one place.
The settings are divided into three categories:
- A green check mark indicates that it's recommended to disable the setting to enhance your privacy.
- A yellow triangle indicates that disabling the setting could affect fu

Gaming Enthusiasts may be interested in this Windows 10 Games Compatibility List:

(Of course, this list, started in February this year, has not been established through rigorous, standardised testing, and results will almost certainly vary with each PC setup. Also, as Windows 10 Tech Preview builds have come and gone, compatibility issues may very likely have changed).

location:

Hi All,
I work as a tech support exec, (yeah tech support needs tech support )
Most of the time we need to boot in safe mode with Networking to fix some of the issues.
In some of the windows 10 computers wireless not working in safe mode with Networking
For an example my dell 5547. Has a wireless card, Intel Ac-3160 works fine in normal mode,
But in safe mode it refuses to detect any Network,
I am seeing similar behavior in some other models too in windows 10
any one faced same issues or have a solution ... I will be thankful
(edit)
Wired Networking (ethernet) is working.
Only wireless is not working

FIELD NOTES
Lost and found: Windows 10's safe mode
By Tracey Capen
Windows 10 might be a significant improvement over Windows 8, but it still possesses some of its predecessor's dual personality. That's most evident in Windows system settings, but it's also true of some built-in troubleshooting tools. The full text of this column is posted at WindowsSecrets.com/field-notes/lost-and-found-windows-10s-safe-mode/ (opens in a new window/tab).

have three computers.
two with bitlocker (win 10 pro 64)
one with truecrypt (win 10 home 64)
went to update win-10-home-truecrypt.
kept getting fail message, Fix The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation
put that machine upgrade on hold, went to a bitlocker machine
BITLOCKER machine
did update, it started installing, then it would RESTART, and NOT ASK ME FOR BITLOCKER password ??????
there is no way it DECRYPTED the drive, so it must be STORING the password as it reboots???????
anyway, after multiple restarts without me intervening, it updated
OK< back to truecrypt machine.
since error seemed to be on restart, I DECRYPTED the machine.
the INSTALL THEN WORKED, as it would reboot, a
