Can't reach login screen normally, though safemode works.

I talked to a friend of mine who knows about computers, and even he's never seen anything like this.
It's pretty simplistic, really. When I turn on my computer, it starts normally at first, but as soon as it would normally play the beginning tune and show the login screen, instead, the musical tone cuts off, and the screen flickers wildly at seizure-inducing speeds. I can see through the flickering the blue of the login screen, yet no profile icons or the text box. As well, I can see the little keyboard button, though its been pushed to the top left of the screen, and I can see and move my mouse normally (though the mouse icon itself relentlessly flickers, like the screen, between normal mouse, mouse with loading circle, and loading circl

Blue Screen when Using Windows Backup
location:

Hi all
My self-made PC is causing me headaches. It's my first self-made PC and I'm starting to regret it.
the specs are:
Intel i7 950
12 GB RAM 2000 MHz (Corsair)
Boot Drive: 128GB Crucial SSD (connected with SATA III)
2nd Drive: 2TB Western Digital EARX (connected with SATA III)
Motherboard: ASUS P6X58D Premium
Windows 7 Ultimate 64
Problem 1:
I get Bluescreens of Death sometimes. The error message states Driver_Power_State_Failure. On the 3 or 4 occasions the appeared I had Windows Backup running, to my 2nd HD. I used to backup to my NAS but I could not watch movies during the backup so I bought the 2nd drive.
Problem 2:
And sometimes the system won't boot. When I start it I get a message like "No bootable media

Black Screen of Death with Mouse Cursor before Login Screen

The issue started a few hours ago when I was playing League of Legends, specifically when the game has finished its loading and crashed to Desktop which is a common problem on my laptop. As usual I would restart the game, but before I could do that explorer.exe crashed, my entire Desktop has turned to the familiar transparent whitish filter before the "Explorer.exe has crashed" message popped out, which was peculiar at the time because this is the first time it had happened.
So I allowed the program to restart, it didn't. So I shut down via holding down the power button and rebooted the laptop. It went into Startup Repair, and did its automated repair, so I let it repair while I did my stuff. When I returned, the repair had compl

Win7 keeps restarting, startup repair and system restore fails
location:

Hello everyone,
I am not sure which category this belongs to as it broaches many areas, but I felt this was the closest (other than general)
In short my computer refuses to start win 7, it tries to repair it, but fails. I have tried system restore point and restore to previous known working state but neither works. The computer will start in safe mode though.
Some background:
This started when my AVG virus software started telling me it could not update so I uninstalled it (or rather tried to update it by downloading a new version of it and trying to install it over the old, but this had some problems so I uninstalled it). I rebooted after the uninstall and the cycle above started.
At this point time I tried restoring the syste

Sony Vaio VPCEE2E1E Freezes at Login Screen
location:

Hello all,
My laptop was working really well until Friday night, when I turned it on and logged on. Then when I launched up google chrome, the system froze, after a few minutes it was still frozen so I did a dirty shutdown and held down the power button.
Since then, it's been a nightmare. I've twice done a system repair which both times took about 7 hours.
Now I'm stuck with this situation, whether I start windows normally or in safe mode, I cannot get past the logon screen as it just freezes almost within a couple of seconds.
Can anyone suggest what to do? I'm not that good with the technical aspect so you may need to explain things in a bit more detail.
Many thanks
Ollie.

PC freezes at login screen - need to rescue documents

My PC is running Win 7 x64bit. Over the last couple of weeks after installing windows updates the PC boots up but when I get to the login screen to select my account the PC is frozen, no mouse no keyboard working all I can do is turn of the PC and start again.
I have used my system repair disk and chosen a restore point, this seemed to cure the problem but I have had to do this about 4 times. Yesterday the computer froze again but even doing system restore did not work, I have tried various dates to restore but it still keeps freezing.
I am not an expert but have tried various things like booting from my Win 7 upgrade disk to repair windows but this did not work. Currently I am running the Dell diagnostics which I accessed from the Boot m
