After Login , Screen Blank
location:

Hi,
Good day. One of my nephew (kid) used my wife computer (windows 8 Pro) this morning and the entire windows 8 is now locked up.
We can still key in the password (logon screen) and login as normal. However the problem is after we login, we only see 1 blank screen and 1 task bar. Windows Button does not work, Metro UI does not work, even if we use shortcut key to access my computer, Windows will prompt us (You do not have sufficient privilege) and worse control panel is all empty.
I had been figuring out was going on for the whole day. We did Scandisk & etc , all does not work.
According to the kid, he told me that what he did was only, keying in many times of different password (because he

Windows 8 Pro skips Space Needle and goes to login screen.

I recently installed Windows 8 Pro and was having the BSOD issue again, and after running msconfig to initiate safe boot, my computer only boots to the windows login screen and there are no user profiles displayed. I can't seem to get past this screen. I have my hdd partitioned and have it set as a recovery one side, however; I can't seem to access the recovery portion. I've rebooted from the esata instead of the hdd but it just tells me that it failed to recover the necessary .exe files. Does anyone have any light they can shed on the situation?
Please help!

Blank screen on boot up, before login screen; slow startup
location:

Hey, first time posting here, so sorry if this is the wrong section or anything.
Lately my laptop has been experiencing a problem when I boot it up. After the Starting Windows screen with the glowing Windows logo, a blank black screen pops up that lasts for ages (I'd say at least 5 minutes). Afterwards the login screen will appear as normal.
When I log in, the desktop appears quickly, but when I try to start any programs, like my browser, they are slow and freeze often (usually I can run programs with no problem when the desktop appears). Sometimes the laptop will hang every three seconds. It takes a bit of time before the programs and the laptop run like normal.
I've tried several things without success:

Urgent! Black Login Screen
location:
7forums.com - date:

While I test Windows 8 Developer Preview, there was a disk checking and it was checking my Windows 7's HDD (I install Windows 7 and Windows 8 Dev. Prev. in different HDD). And when I configure back my BIOS priority to Windows 7's HDD, it was failed to start.
Then I followed the startup repair and it says that my HDD has errors. I wait around one hour and when i restart, I got black login screen.
I can't use "sfc /scannow" because it says that I have repairment waiting and I have to restart, but when I restart, there's nothing and I got my black logon screen.
I can't use system restore because it says that I don't have any restore point.
I don't want to lose any of my program. So, Clean install is the worst case.
I've waited the

Black Login Screen
location:

I have tried to find an answer to my problem but most of the time my search results have to do with changing login screen wallpaper and icons, etc.
In Windows 7 Professional x64, when I turn my computer on, I see the blue welcome screen and then the monitor goes black except for 7 small blue dashes at the top left of the screen. The screen remains black as the computer continues to boot and then my desktop appears normally.
It never did this before (only recently started) and I first noticed it when I scheduled a boot disk check. Previously, I could observe the disk check steps running and see the results; now the screen is black while the disk check runs.
This may or may not have started after a Windows Update but I am not sure. It is a

Black screen + cursor instead of login screen
location:

I've got a problem with my Win 7 install. I recently bought a copy of Win 7 Pro & installed the 64-bit version (as I intend to get more ram at some point fairly soon). I installed it last weekend & for a few days it's been running fine. Then ~2 days ago when I start it up instead of a login screen all I have is a black screen with a cursor, if I wait until the screensaver kicks in & then move the mouse (or press a key, etc) then I can see the login screen (& log in with no problems), if I wait until the HD activity finishes & then type in my password I can login fine. Safe mode starts fine & if I log in to normal mode then everything runs fine & I don't get any other black screens.
At no point am I getting any e

Blue Screen When I Plug in Kindle Fire hd 7"

Hello Again.
this is the same problem i put in another thread but after a recommendation i am making a new heading and hopefully this time i will correctly upload the diagnostic file. If it doesn't work this time I'm afraid i don't know what im doing wrong. Out of curiosity how long does that program need to run for? because it gave me the file about an hour ago but the green loading bar is still moving. does it ever stop? I also have another issue on another pc, but have decided it would be best to have 2 separate threads. I hope that is ok i have no intention of blowing up these forums and aggravating anyone.

BSOD shortly after login, also when waking up from sleep
location:

Hi folks,
Just upgraded my laptop to Win8Pro. This is running on a Bootcamp partition on a late 2011 MacBook Pro. The machine seems to go through phases of stability and then extreme instability (currently on my 3rd full clean install). BSODs seem to happen primarily shortly after boot and login, and rarely if the system has been running for more than a couple minutes. It also seems to sleep when closing the lid, but then BSODs directly after opening the lid.
I looked through the dmp files using BlueScreenView and see that the primary error is a BAD_POOL_HEADER (0x00000019) but not sure where to go from there to identify the actual culprit. Also looked through the evt logs and see that there is an error loading cdrom and dam driv

'Caps Lock' notification - Appears on the screen when I am typing which stops me from typing for a second or two
location:

I've just got windows 7 and I am having great difficulties in typing. Everytime I press the 'caps lock' key a little notification pops up on the bottom right of my screen. This isn't that annoying but it does stop me from typing for the second or two that
it is up for. How do I turn this pointless feature off so I can continue typing?
