Win 7 Refuses to Sleep or Hibernate !!
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
July 14, 2011
When purchased a year ago, my new HP desktop computer with Win 7 WOULD sleep or hibernate, based on the configuration settings I set up. When in active mode, the hardware startup button on the computer would have a blue light, but after the set period of inactivity, the startup button would change to an orange glow, indicating sleep or hibernation mode.
I leave my computers on 24/7, except when away on a trip or vacation.
This computer is fully updated with all Win 7 updates & security as well as SP1.
One morning I went over to my computers only to find the blue light glowing on the Startup button of the Win 7 machine. It was fully active.
I assumed that an overnight Windows (or other) update had activated the computer. I rebooted &a

Win 7 won't hibernate or sleep since sp1
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
March 10, 2011
Ever since I installed the sp1 update my computer immediately reawakens if put into either hibernate or sleep modes. Both worked fine prior to the update which I used on a daily basis. This is most frustrating as I usually run quite a few programs continuously and it is a pain to have to shut down every day and environmentally bad to leave my computer running all the time.
Anyone else found this? Any solutions?

Win 7 does not hibernate after SP1 install
location:
microsoft.com - date:
February 16, 2012
I bought a fresh copy of Windows 7Pro SP1 and coreloaded my machine to upgrade from an earlier OS.
I could press the button and the system would hibernate and resume perfectly in XP.
Now, the screens go blank quickly and eventually, fans stop.
Upon starting I am getting an error stating that the system failed to shut down correctly and eventually restarts, but with a fresh re-start.
Hardware has not changed except for a secondary video card..
Any known problems?

Win 7 64bit Keeps Waking Up From Hibernate During Night!
location:
7forums.com - date:
November 17, 2012
Hello,
My Win 7 64 bit system keeps waking up from hibernate during night, around 2-3 am.
This used to not happen before. I already read previous threads which deal with setting the network adapters not to wake up. I did that. As well as issued a dos command to see if I have any wake timers armed, everything's clear.
I do have a Logitech wireless gamepad connected, but I don't think that has wake power options.
Mixed sleep/hibernate mode is off.

Spontaneous hibernate/sleep win 7
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
September 27, 2013
I recently re-installed Win7 Home Premium 32 bit sp1 on my desktop. It spontaneously hibernates/sleeps it may go for a few days then suddenly closes down maybe a few times in an hour or so I wait a few minutes then hit the enter key the PC returns to where it was before closing down with no loss of data I then continue using the PC as normal. Annoying is the word I use. This is what I have done in my quest for a solution. 1 Change power settings to "never" 2 Edited the registry to disable hibernation 3 Even tried two small programs which are supposed to stop hibernation/sleep then uninstalling same after finding they were useless 4 upgraded monitor driver 5 all other drivers are up to date I'd like to upgrade the bios which I know

Win 7 not using all memory
location:
7forums.com - date:
July 19, 2012
Hi
I just upgraded to windows 7 64bit and went from two gig to 8 gig. Was looking forward to much better performance.
However I was topping out at 100% on the task manager at around 4 gig. I did the winconfig and found the the machine said I had 7.37 total physical memory but only 3.87 available physical mem. Another post here suggested to set memory to max in the config settings. I did now I'm at 6.75 total mem and 4.15 available. I'm so confused on what to do to be able to use what I installed. Help?
Here the second report I generated:
OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Version 6.1.7600 Build 7600
Other OS Description Not Available
OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
System Name RYAN-PC
System Manufacturer Gig
