Which Windows 7 to install? OEM or Retail?
location:
7forums.com - date:

Hello.
I presently have Windows Vista 64-bit installed on my computer and wish to upgrade to Windows 7. I notice that there are two versions available, OEM or Retail. What is the difference between them. Further,I see that the Retail version comes with both 32-bit and 64-bit discs. Can these be used on seperate computers?
Thank you in anticipation
Alan

Which wireless frequency Windows 7 considers the best? 2.4Ghz / 5Ghz?
location:
7forums.com - date:
June 4, 2012
Hello Windows Gurus,
I'm starting to design a 5GHz Wireless Networks that will work together with an 2.4Ghz during the tests and transition phase. In order to keep the same configuration into the clients, we are choosing the same SSID, so we do not have to go one be one and change the machine configuration.
My question is, If there are two WLAN, one with 2.4Ghz and another with 5Ghz with the same SSID, how Windows will choose to which frequency to connect?! To the 2.4Ghz (the default frequency for most APs) or will it try to connect to the 5Ghz (Faster and Less Interference)?!
I also checked and the computers does have Wireless card that works with 5Ghz frequency.

Need to know how to boot Windows 7 into safe mode. Is this the same as all the other versions since Win95 - by hitting the F8 key during boot, or is the ONLY way into safemode by MSConfig and choosing the startup option of safe boot?

SOLVED: Change language Windows 7 Home Premium OEM Spanish to English
location:

Hi all, I thought I'd share this with the community, as I myself had been looking for an answer for quite a time. Scenario: English ex-pat living in Spain. Bought new laptop (Toshiba Satellite L500-20Z) with OEM Windows 7 Home Premium in Spanish. Want Windows 100% in English. I'd been trawling through the threads, and had found these: Completely change language of Ultimate installation? & win 7 language change Googling also revealed I could only change the language if I had an Ultimate or Enterprise licence. I had thought of downloading a legitimate English version Home Premium ISO from Digital River, but a format and clean install was a last resort - even though there's plenty of OEM bloat, I didn't want to risk some things not wor

I had gotten the free version when that promotion was live which i'm aware isn't anymore. I don't really want to pay for something I had already gotten for free so I was hoping to just recover it from my old microsoft account if i could.

I have the same problem, one machine with Vista 64 and my HP 720C installs a driver, but just moves the paper, then when I check I get the error that the spooler service is not working. On my other laptop I have Win 7 64 and it won't even move the paper.
I was using a USB parallel port adapter and read that maybe I need to use a real parallel port. I purchased a StarTech Port Express Base Parallel Express Card. Installed it with the HP 720 and it installs onto LPT3: Same problem, no printer movement, and
the error about the Spooler. Doesn't matter how many times I try it, reboot and try again. No luck. I guess I will return the Express Card and give the printer to Goodwill, but I hate to g

Can you use an upgrade disk to do an in-place upgrade using this sofware, or do you need a full system disk?
I've gotten contradictory answers from LapLink support, so I need to hear from those of you who have actually used this app.
Many thanks.

[SOLVED] Windows 7 64bit shows 3.73GB usable memory with 8GB installed
location:
7forums.com - date:
February 4, 2012
I have two sticks of 4gb PNY RAM (8gb total) installed in an Asrock A75M motherboard, which supports 16GB of RAM. I've already flashed my BIOS, thinking that may be it, but it didn't work.
Windows 7 as well as my BIOS show that 8GB of RAM is installed, but only 3.73 is usable. I have an onboard video card, so 256MB is dedicated to that, which makes sense, but why isn't the other 4GB showing up?
