Can't uninstall Windows 8 Consumer Preview and can't find where to get product key for Windows 7
location:
microsoft.com - date:
April 17, 2012
I did not know before I installed Win8 preview that I could not uninstall it. So, I went out and bought a new hard drive and installed win7 pro on this new hard drive. Now I'm trying to get my product key off the old hard drive for win7 pro, but I cannot
find it. the win8 preview is unstable and after a few clicks says it encountered a problem and hangs after it says there is one second left to reboot. Any suggestions? Also, I can't find my pictures. they were in the Documents folder.
I realize i might've lost my pictures- most of them were backed up, tho.
Original Title: OK, two problems in one.

Where is the bass-boost in Windows 7?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
March 18, 2011
I have a
plantronics DSP 550 USB headset.
In Windows XP I could
choose bass-boost,
which gave a very nice
sound in games and music. But that
possibility is now not available
in Windows 7. I can turn up
the bass in the normal way,
but this does not give the
same bass at all. Plantronics has
no drivers for this headset.
Why is this option now
removed?

How long does it take to install Windows 7?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
September 29, 2009
I heard something about it taking ~20 hours to install Windows 7. That sounds unusual to me.
Then, other people are saying it is quick. Ed Bott: "Windows 7 installs are unquestionably faster than Vista installs. The Microsoft data shows that upgrade times are at least 6% faster and in many cases more than 20% faster, especially for 64-bit installs.
(That 20-hour install actually took an extra 90 minutes using Vista on the same hardware!)"

Does anyone have some real experience with installing?
How long did it take you??

Does the WMI repository in Windows 7 contain any user-specific information?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
May 2, 2013
I have a few users who regularly have a problem opening an application that queries the WMI repospitory. When they try to open this particular application, they get an error message that says the application has stopped working.
The vast majority of my users have no problem at all with this software. There are around 500 users total. But there are a few (around 20) who have this problem. It happens on different PCs for these 20 users, but only on PCs with Windows 7. These same
users can log onto a Windows XP machine and the application works just fine.
The failing application was created by a third-party company. The engineers from this company have looked at this problem and they say

Does startup run applications when Windows 7 is booted or when a user logs on?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
March 26, 2013
We use Windows 7 personal computers to run debit/credit card processing software.
If the Windows 7 personal computer reboots for any reason we want the debit/credit card processing application to start automatically.
On Windows XP we run the debit/credit card processing application as a service.
Support personnel can access the application interface without stopping the service.
With Windows 7 you can not access the application interface if it is running as a service.
The service has to be stopped and application has to be started manually.
This interrupts debit/credit card processing which is not an option.
If startup is used to run the debit/credit card processing application will it ru
