What am i missing to allow Remote Desktop Connect?

What's changed in Windows 7 that it's so complicated to get remote desktop connect to work to remote control computers? I have my wife's computer and my home theater computer as well as a 'home' server that I manage with RDC or at least i did. Since
upgrading to windows 7 the only RDC connection I can make now is to my 'home' server (which is windows2003 based i think).
I've done the basics, i go to properties on my computer, remote, check the box that says allow remote. I've looked at the firewall and it has remote assistance checked as enabled. I went so far as to build my own port rule for 3389 that that didn't help.
I've even looked through the services and turned on every service that was set to man

remote desktop missing keystrokes
location:
microsoft.com - date:
March 21, 2013
Since I upgraded my primary desktop to Windows 8 I have problems when I connect to it from a remote machine, even on our local network. When I use the keyboard from the remote machine, it does not reliably recognize keystrokes. It will miss keystrokes,
requiring me to press a key up to five times or more to get it to register. I see the same thing from multiple win 8 clients and from multiple keyboards. Connection to other machines seem to work fine. This makes it really frustrating, especially when entering
passwords. How can I further troubleshoot this? There is no problem from the local keyboard. This machine is a year old 6 core AMD processor system from HP.

What are the best remote desktop monitors with smartphone apps?

So I'm trying to use a remote monitor on my smartphone to monitor an MMO I play. Unfortunately TeamViewer does not allow you to view games, I'm not sure if it's DirectX or something but no game I've tried has worked with it.
Is there a remote viewer (that allows remote control of mouse and keyboard too) with a smartphone app that will allow me to view launched games?
using Android ICS

Hello and be patient with me. This is my first.
Computer A running Windows 7 Professional.. Desktop to be connected to from Home
Computer B running Windows 7 Home and Office..Laptop wanting to connect to Computer A
I would like to say I have configured it correctly as I have done this in the past, but obviously not
or I would not be seeking help.
Anyway, The Remote Desktop on the laptop will allow me to connect with my password and BLANK password. I have that checked the registry to make sure the requires password is enbled. It allows me connect to a desktop remote screen but rejects both my password and the blank. This remote desktop does not reflect the user Picture Icon.
I have created the port forwarding to 3391 in my router. Went
