Want to install a 128GB SSD
location:

I have a Kingston SSDNow V200 128 GB SATA III 6 GB/s 2.5-Inch SSD I was using on my old Dell Precision 370. I now have a new Lenovo IdeaCenter K450 running Windows 8 X64 and I want to install the SSD in it.
This is what the drives look like now:
I want to clone the 1st 4 partitions plus the C: partition. I can reduce the size of my existing C: so everything will fit on the 128GB SSD. Anything I need to watch out for? I would think that cloning the existing setup should work. I will connect the SSD to the lowest SATA port, where the 2TB drive is now and move the other two drives up by one SATA port.

Install an SSD drive and upgrade to Windows 8 at the same time.
location:
7forums.com - date:

Hi
I have ordered an SSD drive that should arrive at the same time as Windows 8 is released later this week.
I want to install the SSD drive and do a clean install of my PC OS at the same time. I intend to keep my HDD for saving photos etc..
What is the best order in which to approach this?
I was thinking I could:
- re install Windows 7 on the SSD, format the HDD and then buy the Windows 8 upgrade
OR
- buy the upgrade before installing the SSD and create the upgrade installation DVD. Install the SSD drive, boot up from the HDD and then use the clean install facility on the Windows 8 upgrade DVD to install Windows 8 onto the SSD and reformat the HDD?
Will this work?
Thanks
Phil

Fresh Install with SSD
location:

I'm going to be buying a SSD in order to replace my 500GB HDD as my boot/system drive. While I do have a restore disc that I created when I first got my system, I think that rather than installing the disk image onto the SSD, I should just perform a clean install of Windows 7, in order for it to align the drive properly, turn off defrag, etc. I think that I have everything I need, but just to be sure, I'm going to run through the re-installation steps"
1.) Backup up everything, including browser bookmarks, user files, program folders, anything on the desktop, and so forth. A quick question I had about this step was, is there a way I can backup my Windows updates? I know I could conceivably create a slipstream disc of Window

Install of SSD to HP laptop.
location:

I have been trying to replace the WD 120 GB drive on a HP dv2310ca laptop with a Crucial M4 128GB SSD without success. I have duplicated the WD drive onto the SSD in many different ways, but upon installation, it refuses to boot. New drivers were loaded by the OS (VISTA). Any suggestions would be appreciated as Crucial nor HP have been able to help.

only 'Windows Error Recovery' screen during clean install to SSD
location:

I'm weeks of spasmodic attempts into replacing my old C-drive with a new SSD and a clean install of Windows 7, 32 bit, so there's a lot of history I will spare people - ask me if there's something you think might be pertinent.
Here's the current loop:
Following Sandisk's instructions on formatting SSD for use as OS with Win 7:
1) I verify BIOS - SATA is (as before) set to ACHI
2) I place Windows 7 upgrade disc in drive, hoping to use "Option 1 - normal clean install" (from Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version )
3) I get "Windows Error Recovery" screen, stating "windows did not shut down normally" (white text on black screen), with two options - start normally, or startup repair.

I just performed a clean install on my new SSD and didn't enter the product key at install. However, I'm at the "preparing your computer for the first time use" screen and it won't accept my install key on my Windows 7 x64 Pro upgrade disc. I'm stuck. Any ideas?

Upgrade from Vista to Win7 AND install new SSD vs HDD at same time?
location:
7forums.com - date:
March 28, 2012
Hi all,
Would appreciate any help on this one. My wife has a Vista machine (64 Ultimate) that I'd like to upgrade in two ways.
1) Win 7 (personal) and
2) SSD vs. HDD
I've really hit a road block here.
Can I image the existing Vista onto the SSB (I don't know how to do this!), then install SSB, remove HDD and try to upgrade?.
Or, given that it Vista Ultimate is only supposed to upgradable to Win 7 Ultimate (or the equivalent) and I only have Windows 7 Personal (or home, whatever the lower grade version is called), is there another way?
I could just install Windows 7 onto the SSD and copy vital stuff over to the SSD from the HDD, but the problem with that is that she insists on using Outlook Express (three different Comcast
