Dual Boot Windows 7 & 8 (With Windows 7 Installed later)
location:
8forums.com - date:
November 27, 2012
Hi All.
Recently I installed Windows 8 Pro on my system (in a SSD), after a few weeks I noticed that the OS isn't compatible with certain programs I use, so I wanted to install Windows 7 Home Premium alongside it.
Since I don't really want to clean install 8 after installing 7, I installed 7 onto a separate HDD within my case.
I've now got to the stage of the black background/white text boot menu, which shows Windows 8 and Windows 7, but whenever I select Windows 7 it just reboots the PC back to the Boot Splash screen (Bios/Post screen)
I've repaired the install with Windows 7 discs and with Windows 8 discs and neither seemed to help. I've used EasyBCD installed on Windows 8 to create the boot menu and that doesn't help anythi

Windows 7 & 8 Dual Boot Problem
location:
8forums.com - date:
March 1, 2012
When booting and given the option to load windows 8 (consumer preview) or windows 7 and selecting windows 7 it loads saying " preparing automatic repair" system recovery options menu is followed shortly after this. Windows 8 loads fine and was installed on a second partition created in windows 7 disk management and installed from iso burned on cd. I am hoping someone has come across this or knows a possible solution without doing factory default restore in order to load windows 7. The partition windows 7 is on is still intact and files can be seen and modified in windows 8 but a problem has been created in the booting of windows 7. Thanks for any help in advance!

Dual Boot Win7 & 8 problems - Windows 8 won't start
location:
8forums.com - date:
February 10, 2013
Hoping someone can help me.
I have a ASUS P5Q Pro with the Intel raid chipset. I had Windows 7 on a RAID1 mirror (2 drives), Windows on a C partition and my files on another partition.
I bought the Windows 8 upgrade and put it on a USB stick. I installed a 250GB Samsung SSD and another 1TB to act as my D drive for my files. I would get the Windows 8 boot menu with the option to start either or. Note that when I installed 8, I still had my Windows 7 drive connected. So my Windows 8 drive does not have a System Reserve space (I only learned of this since my problem).
So I was ready to give up Windows 7 yesterday, and planned to take one of the two hard drives of the Win 7 mirror and use to mirror the new 1TB D drive. I figured

MS Project 2013 Installation/Deinstallation Menu appears on every boot
location:
7forums.com - date:

Hello all!
I have MS Office 2010 installed and additionally MS Project 2013 Professional. Both are working fine, except that the installation/deinstallation menu of project 2013 is appearing on every system start. (I use windows 7 Professional by the way.)
I had some similar issues with visio 2010, where visio wanted to configure on every start of the program. I had to change some registry keys to solve the problem. I think this time perhaps some bad registry keys might also be responible.
Does anyone have this issue or know a solution? Many thanks in advance,

Explorer.exe hangs on Boot
location:

Hi All,
any help would be appreciated.
I received a new PC build with Windows 7 home 64 bit, Intel i7 3820K 4 Core 3.6GHz, 16GB RAM.
After setting up my PC with applications a day or 2 later Explorer.exe started to hang. Upon boot all seems ok but when you attempt to navigate into a directory it hangs. If you leave the system and dont try navigate eventually a message will appear saying explorer.exe is having issues. You can shutdown explorer.exe via the task manager and from that point on until reboot it seems fine.
event viewer shows:
he program Explorer.EXE version 6.1.7601.17514 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center co

Windows 8 runs off VMWare but can't physically boot it
location:
8forums.com - date:

Hi guy
I'm very confused I basically can't get windows 8 to boot past the blue window logo whether I boot straight off DVD or upgrade and reboot to complete installation. However I run and install and use it perfectly off VMWare allocating only 512mb ram from my total 1gb. Surely if it runs on virtual that means my hardware does support it so it's not a hardware problem that I can boot win 8??
What do you guys think

Restored system from Toshiba external, now only black screen when boot
location:
7forums.com - date:

I restored an HP system recently from an external Toshiba HDD. The restore worked other than the fact that I now only get a black screen with a cursor after windows loads. I can press ctrl alt del and the menu comes up but nothing will start when selected. I ran scf/scannow as administrator figuring it may be a file system error but it could not complete and fails at 51% with the error "Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation". The system starts in safe mode just perfectly. The only thing I can think that is different is the hard drive. It is a different brand. There are four partitions on the HDD. Ask me for any other info!! The backup and restore software on the toshiba is Backup Now EZ. When window
