Toshiba exec: Microsoft confused consumers over Windows 8, RT
Microsoft has already taken a lot of flak over Windows 8, predominantly over its new design aesthetic. But more and more PC makers are lining up to point the finger at the software giant over its own marketing strategy.
At a product launch in Sydney, Toshiba Australia managing director Mark Whittard launched a ground-assault against Microsoft's marketing strategy, reports The Australian, claiming the software giant caused a "lot of confusion with Windows 8" with Intel-based machines and ARM-based machines.
But Lenovo and Samsung, which both make Windows 8 and Windows RT-based devices, have already bundled in software to include

Windows 7 won't boot after reinstalling over Windows 8

Hi all,
So, I recently bought my granddad a new laptop, however it came with Windows 8, which he is not familar with. So I decided that I would buy it and simply reinstall Windows 7 over the top again. Surprisingly I simply ran the setup from inside Windows 8 and it seemed to work fine to downgrade. The installation process completed successfully as far as I can see however, when it booted up again it simply stuck on the registry settings boot screen. After a while it then rebooted and started up again but this time froze on the starting windows normal boot screen. I left it for a while to see what happened and it just rebooted after a while again and simply did the same thing. I cannot get it to boot into safe mode either. Could this

Is there any way to EASILY adjust the text size in the Microsoft news app in Windows 8?
location:

I have Windows 8 installed on my desktop and while I don't have a touch screen I still would like to be able to use some of the offered apps like Microsoft News. I really like the way the app functions but I find that the text is just too small for my
64 year old eyes to read easily. I want to be able to make the text larger without having to change everything on my computer to do it. Is there a way to zoom in small increments like I do in Firefox? Judging by what I read on the internet I am not the
only person who has problems with text size in the Windows 8 apps.

BUILD 2013: Microsoft to Launch Both Windows Blue and Surf

BUILD 2013: Microsoft to Launch Both Windows Blue and Surface 2 Rumor has it that Microsoft is planning to use the BUILD developer conference next month to introduce two new important products, namely the Windows Blue upgrade and the next-generation Surface tablet.
As compared to previous Windows iterations, the Windows Blue Start button would only allow users to launch the Start Screen and might not open a Start Menu.

Microsoft no longer supports windows 8?
location:

first of all there is no email or phone options anymore to contact Microsoft. That gives me a lot of confidence. Anyhow I got a brand new HP laptop with Windows 8. The laptop is fine but windows 8 sucks. IE 10 sucks also. Should I return the laptop
and get a MAC? Or is there a way to downgrade to Windows 7? Windows 8.... really awesome. It switches screens on it's own. It's takes several clicks to get back to where I was supposed to be. Or am I supposed to buy windows 8 pro? I've been a Windows
person since 1996 but I think this is the last Windows comp for me. Does that make you feel good Microsoft? After this do you seriously think I will get a Wi

Can Microsoft Force us to Windows 8
location:

Hey guys
i was just wondering because my friend and me had an argument over windows 7 and windows 8, and he menchoned windows 8 having an exclusive direct 11.1 feature now. this had me wondering, and abit concerned since i love windows 7.
Can microsoft force us to windows 8 with directx 11.1 via deal's with game developers to develop for it, and compatability etc
Even though today, most games still support directx 9 and windows XP, there are a phew games heading down the road of DX10/11 only. but it has taken quite a phew year's for that to even be a consideration
So yeah, im curious. if microsoft will even attempt to find a way to force us to windows 8

What are Microsoft's goals for Windows 8?

What are Microsoft's Goals for Windows 8?
Microsoft has announced some of it's goals, such as faster startup and shutdown times, and having one operating system for everything from phones to tablets to notebooks and laptops to desktops. I think that what would be a better idea, is having one core operating system, and then having an operating system forked from the core for each platform.
Others while unannounced are pretty obvious, such as establishing a position in phones and tablets, and having a common interface across all supported devices. Since the desktop doesn't work for phones and tables, Microsoft will try, very hard, to get desktop and laptop users to adopt the Metro UI. They want to move people away from the desktop, and w
