This error message popped up after owning the laptop for over a year. It is definately a genuine version of windows as the laptop was brought new from a well known retailer with a name similar to an indian dish . The sticker with the key on it is on the bottom of the computer and all the numbers have worn off - excellent diagnostic report below. Thanks for your help. After using windows 7 ultimate for 3 years today I get the error message "this copy of windows is not genuine"  I purchased it from Neweegg and have the orignal box, disk and product code.  Tried reentering the product code, no good.   Tried running Mircosoft Genuine Advantage Dia tool, under validation status:  Invalid license.

Hi there! I'm having issues with activating my Windows 7 product key. My desktop background has gone black with a small note at the right bottom corner with the message: Windows 7 build 7601 this copy of Windows is not genuine. I own a 3 year old Toshiba laptop (running Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit), the OEM product key sticker on my laptop has worn out, I used a key finder to find my product key. While trying to activate, I keep getting Error 0X8007232B DNS name does not exist. I did try going through the resolution steps here "Stop error code 0x8007232b" or "Stop error code 0x8007007B" when you try to activate Windows without any avail. Please help !!! I recently started having problems with my copy of Windows 7 saying it's not genuine. It came already installed on my laptop so I don't have the disk but I have tried re-entering the key on the back of my laptop with no luck. Hi, I got a new computer about 4 weeks ago, and have had no problems up until last night. I left my computer on to go to a concert and everything was fine, and I come home to find that my desktop turned black, and said "This copy of Windows 7 is not Genuine.", and "You may have a counterfeited version of Windows.". Since then, I tried a System Restore, which did not work, and attempted to change it via the control panel (I have a product key on the side of my computer on a sticker) which gave me an error. I've been reading on this issue, and seems that I may have to call Microsoft Support to resolve this.
