Sony Vaio Desktop Display (XP Pro)
location:

I upgraded the O/S on my Sony Vaio laptop from Windows 2000 to Windows XP Pro. In doing so I lost the Sony Vaio desktop display which was an html file. Before I changed to XP I saved this html desktop file and have now copied to the folder with the Windows desktop images (windowswebwallpaper). However, when I select this image as my desktop or view the image with my browser all I get is a pale green background and not the image I had before which had the Vaio logo and a background that changed though out the day. Sony support has been useless.

Sony VAIO brightness control issue on Windows 8
location:

Hello guy.
I have a little issue with me Sony VAIO laptop after installing Windows 8. In fact I did not have this issue when i installed it 1st time, (meaning I was running Windows 8 previously on this machine without this issue).
The Issue:
I can not control the brightness level by it's default short keys (Fn+F5,F6), meaning when i press those keys screen adjustment animation is appearing on Max. level but the screen is going dark! I can control it from Power options though! but as soon as i touch those keys Fn+F5 or Fn+F6, the screen is going dark again.
All the other Fn + .... keys are working properly,, I have installed all the necessary drivers and utilities for them (as I always was doing previously). I am installing:

in advance, sorry if this issue has been solved on this forum, but i didn't find it.
i have sony vaio VPCS11X9E which came preinstalled with Windows 7 64bit, and everything worked fine. i was forced to reinstall Windows 7 32bit because of some old software (don't ask). as far as i can see, everything is fine except for one thing, display brightness. display is dimmed, constantly, since the login screen. i have managed to make the brightness keys to work in the sense that the brightness bar is visible and changing. however, the brightness of the screen doesn't change. i have also gone through all power and display settings, in windows and vaio control center, and have set everything on maximum, regardless of power plan etc, and tried t

location:

Hey guys, I've only recently noticed this, but the brightness on my Vaio is stuck.
FN+F5/6 does nothing at all.
Changing the slider on both Win+C - Settings - Brightness and also through the Control Panel display options both do nothing either.
Any suggestions how to get around this?
Thanks!

Any means of changing the brightness does not work, this does include the brightness bar when you go into settings. I have tried so many driver installs, checked for any missing drivers or out of date drivers, but the only one that seems out of date is my Intel HD graphics which I HAVE updated, yet the Intel driver update checker says otherwise. I have disabled AND enabled (just in case) the adaptive brightness, but it does NOT work. I did have Windows 7 Ultimate running on before but decided to upgrade to Windows 8. Windows 7 never had any issues with brightness. Also when I load up,

Sony Vaio VGN-FZ290 Brightness

Hey everyone!
I have a problem I've been trying to fix for a few months now to now avail. Some of you are probably aware that Windows 7 has been causing problems with laptop brightness controls. I've been through forums everywhere and tried installing Sony's drivers among others in various orders, but I'm not so sure that's the problem anymore, or maybe I just haven't come across the right combination.
Anyway, problem description:
Brightness control in Power Options and Windows Mobility Center works for a while after boot, sometimes when the laptop sleeps it disappears completely from those two, but when it hibernates, it always disappears. Also the Fn+F5/F6 controls don't work (ever), but the Fn key works for mute, scroll-lock, pause,

Please help me with a clean install of windows 7
location:

This is how I use to install Windows 7, I had a cd-rom and I just put the the system recovery disc, waited for it to load, then clicked on the command prompt icon, command prompt opened, then i just looked for the partition and folder where my Windows 7 installation files are, once there in the folder, i typed setup.exe
The installation screen opened and follow all the steps, selected the partition c: where I wanted it to be installed, and it was fine
Now, I have no cd-rom and system reapir disc, so I opted to use grub4dos to boot "system repair disc" or a software kind of similar called "pcwindowsrecovery" from SD card(2Gb) or a USB drive(1 Gb), my goal was just to open the command prompt and look for my Windows 7 ins
