We are updating a Sony VAIO Laptop - Sony vaio VGN Z56GG notebook from Windows 7 to Windows 8
The following message showed up in the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant as it checked the computer to see if it was ready for Windows 8:
"Secure Boot isn't compatible with your PC
Your PC's firmware doesn't support Secure Boot so you won't be ale to use it in Windows 8."
Not knowing what this meant, we tried to install Windows 8 as we normally would do.

Hi,
I'm trying to install windows 8.1 on a sony vaio E series laptop which had windows 8 preloaded on it. I made a bootable usb thumb drive with Windows USB CD/DVD Download tool. When i try to boot through the pdrive it doesn't boot. I selected the option to boot from external device and selected the boot mode as UEFI. But it doesnot go into the windows 8.1 setup.
Then i selected the legacy mode and started the setup but it booted into the 8.1 setup. I formatted the C: Drive and selected that partition to install windows 8.1 on it but it showed mean an error showing that the partition is of GPT style and windows cannot install. I was doomed...
I searched on the internet and came to know that it happens because it is not booted in

I have a Sony Vaio with Windows 8. After having updated, I got this message:
click OK to enter Hibernate mode, and remove and reinsert the battery. See the electronic VAIO(R) User Guide for more information about using the battery. The installed battery may not be properly connected to the computer or may not be compatible with the
computer.
I saw from other posts how to fix this issue with Windows 7, but I can't translate that to Windows 8. Can someone help?

I have an issue with my Windows 7 Sony Vaio DVD Drive. I had the DVD Drive replaced by Sony last fortnight which worked fine up until a couple of days ago. I've tried everything I can think of to get it to work but to no result. The message I’m seeing is ‘Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)’.
My system information is:
- Windows 7 Home Premium
- Intel Core i3-2310M CPU @ 2.10GHz
- Sony Optiarc DVD RW AD-7740H
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Need help/Unable to install Windows 7 64bit in Sony Vaio Laptop

Hi all, I have a brand new Sony S Series 15 SVS151290X that I recently bought and it came with Windows 8. I removed the internal HDD and replaced it with a fresh Samsung Series 830 256Gb SSD. The SSD is recognized as it show in BIOS. I'd like to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit onto it. I have an ISO image of the Windows installation DVD disk and created a bootable USB installation flash drive. I followed the instructions to modify it so that the UEFI Bios will recognize it. I alsotried installing it directly from the Windows installation DVD (the laptop also has a DVD drive). In both cases I'm unable to install Windows, a message shows NO Operating system found. I tried changing the UEFI boot option in BIOS to "LEGACY" and the in

Sony Vaio Laptop "stopped" connecting to WiFi connection " Limited acc

Hi,
I am hoping you can help me with my problem.
My main laptop (Sony Vaio VPCCB15FG) in the last week just stopped accessing the internet via WiFi.
It says it has Limited Acess but I have no idea how to fix it.
The other 3 computers in the house (Custom desktop, Toshiba Net book, Samsung Laptop) can all access the internet as normal.
It is only the Sony that is being problomatic.
It is also running rather slow for the spec so that may be related.
Please help! I am not super computer savy so please give simple instructions.
