Hi
I tried the fix above; however when I click on "Apply" it gives me the 0x8007007B error again. In my case my machine is a Win 7 Home upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate. Any ideas? Any registry changes that can make the "missing C" go away/
Thanks

Windows 7 won't start. System Protection turned off.
location:

Hi
Sorry for starting a new thread - I couldn't see anything directly relevant. My computer will not start normally - it reaches the windows screen and freezes. Ordinarily I would use system restore but when I try to do this I am told there is no system restore point as system protection is turned off. I can start the computer in safe mode but I cannot turn system protection on since the tab for system protection does not show up where help says it should. I have tried to allow the computer to repair itself but it doesn't seem to be able to do so. I'm sorry this information is a bit vague - I can answer specific questions if anyone is willing to ask them.

Where are system protection registry settings stored

Where are system protection settings stored on the system?
In windows XP, this was in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SystemRestore
In Windows 7, this key exists, but the only values available are:
FirstRun (what is this?)
LastIndex (what is this?)
RPSessionInterval (set to 1)
In a subkey (cfg) I've found a value DiskPercent which is set to 15, but if I look at the properties trough the GUI, the DiskPercent value is set to 3%...
Another subkey (Setup_Last) mentions the value "Generalize_DisableSR" which is set to 0, but no matter if I enable or disable SR, this value remains 0...
Were is the "Restore Settings" stored? ("Restore system settings and previous versions of files", "Only re

location:

I am trying to create my first ever "restore point". Start > Settings > Control Panel > System (icon) > System (window) > System protection (item) > System-Properties (dlg) -----
System Properties (dialog) > System Protection (tab)
There are two Available drives in the "Protection Settings" panel (C:) Local Disk (System) ... Protection:= ON System ... Protection:= OFF Should "System" be OFF ?
If I only Create "... drives that have system protection turned on..." -- will I be getting what I expect --
a valid restore point ?
In Configure (btn) > System Protection for (C: Local Disk (dlg)
Disk Space Usage is set to "0 bytes" (zero)
Is this a correct setting (and w

What is Meant by 'Max Usage' when configuring System Protection?
location:
7forums.com - date:

I have a question regarding restore points; when I go into the system protection configuration settings one of the options is the setting for maximum disk space usage. I had the slider set to 4% of my total disk memory which is about 27.45 GB, (I have a 750GB Hard drive). Is that where I should be? The amount of used disk space on that hard drive is about 380 GB. Of the three options given for restore settings I have ticked the "Restore System Settings and Previous Versions of Files". I'm assuming that the 4% I have set in "Maximum Usage" is enough because it only needs to hold some system information reference links, (I think). What I mean is I don't think that the slider should be set to the same amount of gigaby
