HELP!! My windows 8 new laptop wont turn on :(
location:
8forums.com - date:
November 30, 2012
I was having problems with my new computer (HP Envy m6, running windows 8). It was not signing me out properly and would not shut down. I thought that maybe I just needed to update the windows software. But upon updating the software and turning my computer back on it gave me a black screen with one blue box that says "Selected boot image did not authenticate. Press <Enter> to Continue. If I press Enter the computer the computer turns off (turning back on displays the same message). If left on nothing changes and it will continue to run the computer.
Please help me, thanks :

Windows 8 search function not working for me. Need help
location:
8forums.com - date:
October 24, 2012
I know of two ways to search. Neither is working for me. Indexing service is active.
1) Using Modern UI (see screenshot)
Good finds thingsincluding file contents
Bad Searches cannot be savedNo advanced options like (type of data: file, outlook etc..), size, date...File types associated with Internet Explorer are opened in Modern UI IE not in Desktop IEEvery time a file is opened, the search results vanish
2) Using Explorer (see screenshot)
Good It has everything the Modern UI search lacks (advanced options, save searches etc.)
Bad Doesn't find things (file content wise). For example the file in the screenshot is on my desktop. It takes minutes and then finds nothing
Any suggestions?

Can't download updates, microsoft techs worked on PC remotely for ten hours, can anyone help me?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
January 10, 2013
On 12/22/12 tried to download update KB2753842 got error code 800703F1. Got hold of the Tech Desk at Microsoft and a tech logged on to my PC remotely and tried to solve problem for 6 hours. He did several command prompts, selective start-up, typed in several
registry commands and did a scannow for integrity issues. He went in and disabled my McAfee security but forgot to enable it before he got done and forgot to change it back to normal start-up. Well he said he fixed the problem (if you call hiding the update
a fix). After he logged off that's when my problems really began. I went to check on the update and he erased every update, no history, then it showed one update was available It was KB2753842 and I tried to update&nbs

Four months in, Windows 8 needs help
location:

After four months of tepid Windows 8 PC sales, maybe it's time for Microsoft to make a few changes.
During a conversation I had this week with IDC analyst Bob O'Donnell, he volunteered the following statement, which sounded strangely like my experience.
There were certain decisions that Microsoft made that were in retrospect flawed. Notably not allowing people to boot into desktop mode and taking away the start button. Those two things have come up consistently. We've done some research and people miss that.
And there are a lot of people that as soon as they boot into Windows 8, they go to desktop mode and do most their work there and occasionally back to Metro. But the point being they're much more com

Soft Recording volume with Blue Yeti, increasing volume distorts audio
location:
7forums.com - date:
March 28, 2012
So I have a Blue Yeti, and I'm an online animator/voice actor. Whenever I record audio on my Blue Yeti (OR any other mic) I record about 4-6 inches from the mic, and turn the gain down enough that the audio doesn't peak as I yell or whatever. This is what you're supposed to do if you don't want your audio levels peaking and making your recording sound horrible and corrupted. However, afterwards, it means I have really quite recordings. Not a problem right? Now that it's recorded right, I can boost the volume of the entire clip afterwards right? WRONG. I'm not an audio expert so I must be missing something. But why in GODS NAME would the audio distort and peak AFTER it's recorded successfully? It's all there, it's all clean audio. If I turn

Please help with website maintainance
location:
winsecrets.com - date:

Hi everyone, I am a new website owner/builder, and my question is; where can I find info about maintaining my site?
I have the site up and running, using Zara Web Developer Pro X, when I need to update the site, what do I do?
I have screwed the site up trying to update before and had my host (JustHost) fix it for me.
My problem is; I don't know what to do with the files already in the public_html folder, delete them ( which ones?), download them and change them(how?).
I have read the software info, and there is plenty of info on getting your site up and running, but not how to update.
I also have several books telling me how to build and publish, but not much about maintaining.
I used FileZilla to change site before.
