Start up time - slow
location:

I searched for this question and saw that it seems everyone has a different reason...
My PC boot time is pretty slow, my desktop comes up in probably 3 minutes, gadgets after about 5 and Dell Dock after about 7. After those 7 minutes I have to wait another 2-3 before I can click anything.
I saw one person said to list the things in the start up tab of msconfig that was checked: Alps Pointing-device Driver IDT PC Audio Dell Wireless WLAN Card Trend Micro Windows Mobile Device Center Intel (R) Common User Interface (LISTED 3 TIMES) Adobe Updater Microsoft OS Google Update Google Talk Skype Microsoft OS (listed again) Trend Micro AntiSpam Mobile Me Dell Webcam Central Adobe CS4 Manager Office 2010 Quick Time Java Adobe Acrobat Adove Reader

Very long start up time, 5 to 7 minutes, how do I fix this?
location:

When I turn on my computer, after it's been off for awhile, it takes 5 to 7 minutes to boot up. It just started doing this recently. How do I fix this?
I have a Gateway DX4840 with an Intel Core i5 650 Processor, 3.2 GHz, 4 Gigs of Ram and a 1 TB, SATA HD. My internet connection is thru a Cable Modem with Cox Cable Communications with Power Boost, approximately 18 GBs download speed. I'm running Windows
7 Home Premium 64 Bit operating system. I have 2 other computers connected thru a D Link Wireless N Router. These other PCs don't affect my main computer as far as boot up process goes. I still have the extremely long boot up time if the other computers are
off. While booting up the activity light on my PC

Explorer.exe error every time at Windows 8 start up
location:

Every time I open my computer and go to the Desktop I encounter an alert dialogue box that shows nothing but a blank alert dialogue box with the warning icon (exclamation point inside a yellow triangle) and an "OK" option. Just that. No other message. The title of the dialogue box is Explorer.exe. When I click "OK" or close it (by clicking "X") the dialogue box appears again and insists for two or three times.
The weird thing is, last night the dialogue box has a message saying, if I remember correctly, "Explorer.exe not found." But I'm not very sure if that's exactly the message, since I just clicked "OK" (again for three times) and decided to fix it tomorrow morning. But now, t

Extremely slow start up and Windows Explorer keeps crashing.

Hello, my name is Thomas, and I'm new here. I'm not all that versed in computer repair but I'm coming to you for help with a serious issue on my laptop. It all started two (2) days ago while I was on Facebook. All was running fine all morning when suddenly my computer started slowing down and needed a ten (10) second break every time I input a new letter into my messages. I bore through it for a good ten (10) minutes before shutting the computer down out of fear that overheating was the cause of the sudden slow down.
After about half an hour I turned my computer back on and all seemed fine until I tried logging into my account. Suddenly it would only log into a black screen with nothing but the mouse visible. The mouse was usable but no

Slow Start Up (XP Professional)
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
January 11, 2005
Hi All,
My PC starts really slowly - please help me save my sanity. It happens when I am connected to the network and when I am not connected. There is a lot (capital L, capital O, capital T) of disk activity at the start. My virus scanner is up to date and shows no problems, just ran ad-aware (nothing to speak of), defrag disk regularly, minimal in the 'start up' folder. Looked at running processes and nothing jumps out at me.
Any other suggestions?
