Show Full Menus (Windows XP, IE 6.0)
location:

When I click Favorites on the menu bar, it doesn't immediately show the full menu. Where is the setting for this?
In most office apps, you have the ability to click on Tools | Customize... | Options and can then check the box: Always Show Full Menus. That sequence is not available on IE.
It is not a matter of desktop space - there is plenty of room to display the full menu of twenty items. Also, as far as I can tell, it's just happening on the Favorites menu item, the other menu items seem complete. I don't remember this being a problem just a few short weeks ago. And I don't know what has changed the behavior of the program.

location:
winsecrets.com - date:

Strange behavior for last 10 days. Flash movies will not play any more on web sites and when I right click an image Windows tries to download it as a bmp file only!
I've tried to reinstall Flash from the Macromedia site and the site just sits there with no download occuring.
Microsoft support gave me the following advice and none of it works. Can you help?
(I apologize for pasting all of the below, but thought you might want to read the thread)

As I understand, when you used the Save Picture As option for a graphic file in Internet Explorer, you were only allowed to save the file as an Untitled.BMP file. We shall be working together through the course of this request to resolve this specific issue for you. If I have mi

When I try to import a video from my Ipod into Windows Movie Maker 6.0 it says I need to install a codec. What does that mean?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
March 13, 2013
It says,
The file C:\Users\admin\Desktop\IMG_0230.MOV cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try
to import the file again.
I tried to use Quick Time Player, VLC, and a .MOV but none of them work. (I am not very good at this so I am not sure if any of those things are the same or if it was already .MOV.
Thanks!

Unable to delete attachment (windows xp OE 6)
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
July 29, 2008
I was forwarded an attachment that I couldn't open because the file appeared as an envelope. (.eml?) However, when I saved it to desktop, I was able to open it but did not notice the file extension. I realized the attachment was a .pps file and changed the extension to that. Somehow there are now TWO of the same; one of which I can delete but the other says "Cannot delete file; cannot read from the source/disk." I've tried restoring one from the recylce bin and tried to delete both at the same time, to no avail. Also tried dragging it to the bin; same result. I've also tried going ino the original forward message and re-opening the html attachment, but it appears as the original .pps file.
When I click on properties, the "c

Newly created local user account doesn't show up on Windows XP Welcome Screen
location:

I create a local user account but it doesn't show up on the welcome screen however, the profile folder gets created and exists just the same. The only local user account that shows up is the disabled Guest account; however, I can log into Windows with
the administrator account or any of the other accounts if I don't use the welcome screen. If I do use the welcome screen, I'm SOL and have to CTRL+ALT+DEL to log in. I've confirmed the machine is absolutely up to date, free of malware and is running SP3. The
user accounts do appear in Computer Management/Local Users and Groups/Groups/Administrators but not under Users. The only other detail I have is that the machine used to be on a Netware network and I have remove the old domain info and

Persistent Cookie (IE 6.0 SP1)

I would like to know How to set a cookie to Persistent. I have several sites that need to install a cookie, yet some program I use deletes them all and I haven't been able to discover which one does that. It may be the same one that removes the programs I've typed in Run (but that's another isssue).
Setting a cookie to Presistent is my main concern now.
Thanks in advance for your help.

<img src=/S/surrender.gif border=0 alt=surrender width=31 height=23> I've given up! I've searched everywhere and written to Microsoft (w/o reply) and finally decided to come to the experts. I'm running XP Home on a Sony Vaio FXA36 with the latest update for IE 6.
Here's the deal. Sometimes, not always, when I click on a link or enter an address directly, I get a 404 error from a completely unrelated site. For example, searching through the posts here, I click on a thread, the proper address shows in the Address bar, yet visually I get a 'you have requested an invalid page' message from Microsoft's support site. The site that the message is from is, I believe, related to History as it is usually a site I had been to previously
