Can no longer load Windows XP in W7's XP Mode
location:

I've been running some older programs successfully in W7's XP Mode for several months, but recently something changed so that whenever I would wake up the computer from hibernation, the XP Mode would show the XP startup screen with the Username "XPMUser" and ask for my password. I'd enter it, XP would load instantly, and all would be well until the next time I left the computer for too long and it went into hibernation, after which it would wake up again and again ask for the XPMUser password to allow XP to open. Finally, I got tired of having to do this every time I came back to the computer, so I went into XP's Control Panel and removed the password for XPMUser so that I wouldn't be bothered with having to enter it time after

Print Shop Deluxe install fails in XP Mode
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
September 26, 2011
I have a similar situation, regarding a really old application: PrintShop Ensemble II for Windows, circa Win95. We use it at our business for various posters and client fliers, etc. Haven't upgraded to a newer version because Broderbund NEVER allows newer versions to utilize older artwork that has been created, and we have just too much old stuff (that we re-use) to throw it all out. And, my technology-challenged-wife uses and likes it as it is. Works fine under Win98, Win2k and WinXP, but obviously not in native Win7 (which we have not yet installed at her business). I installed XP-Mode in Win7 on my home office PC specifically to use this and some old R&R-Windows runtime report utilities. The R&R stuff seems to run fine, but

Window and Text size in Command Prompt, Windows XP Mode
location:

Anybody know how to change the text size in Windows XP Mode at the command prompt? I've tried right clicking on the DOS shortcut that I set up and changing it there, but it doesn't do anything.
Also, I've set it to Full Screen, but everytime I execute a program, it shrinks to a smaller window. Has anyone encountered that? Any fixes to force it to remain full screen?

Windows XP Mode - Modem not detected
location:
7forums.com - date:
January 4, 2011
I did an anytime upgrade from Windows 7 Home to Windows 7 Professional. I setup Windows XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC. I was able to get my software installed, but I cannot get it to detect my modem. I have tried uninstalling the modem from Windows 7 and installing with the installation disc in Windows XP Mode, but my modem is still not detected. The software I installed in Faxtools ExPert 8. It receives faxes and allows me to setup mailboxes to email the faxes to certain people. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Group Policy Not Applying in XP Mode
location:
7forums.com - date:
August 4, 2009
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my laptop and have installed Windows Virtual XP. I have joined the XP virtual machine to our domain successfully and am able to connect to server shares and our Exchange Server. However, Group Policy is not applying to the virtual machine, neither user nor computer policies. When I do "gpresult" I get the following message:
INFO: The policy object does not exist.
I have verified that the DNS server entries are correct on the VM. The VM's logon server is our domain controller. I have tried running "gpupdate /force" but that doesn't work.
I appreciate any advice or tips anyone might have.
Thanks!

XP Mode - MacBook Pro - "User does not have sufficient access rights"
location:

I'm using a MacBook Pro 6,1. 17", i5 2.53Ghz, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD.
Installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 using Boot Camp.
I need to install two instances of XP Mode so that I can run native IE7 and IE8 browsers for web development purposes. I've successfully set this up on my desktop but since I am currently traveling I really need access to the same thing on my laptop using Boot Camp.
I've read in many other forums and websites that there's no problem installing XP Mode on the MacBook Pro using Boot Camp. When I go through the initial setup, I get the following error:
"The virtual machine configuration could not be created. User does not have sufficient access rights"
I also made sure that Windows Virtual Machine was run

Upgraded, yesterday to Win 8.

Clicking any of these gets a RunDll error referencing vmcPropertyHandler.dll

can't find virtual PC or XP mode after uninstall/reinstall of them
location:
7forums.com - date:

Hi. I think i bungled my XP Mode and Virtual PC - was working until i re-installed.
After re-installing XP Mode & virtual PC i am unable to find them listed in start/programs, so i think am unable to run XP mode - no Virtual PC folder any more.
I do see 'Windows XP Mode' in the control panel/programs and features. However i do not see 'Virtual PC' there.
Then when i tired to install them again, without un-installing them first [this time], windows alerted me that XP Mode "WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe" is already installed - Good. However it alerted me that 'this application is not applicable to your computer' when i attempted to re-install Virtual PC "Windows6.1-KB958559-x64-RefreshPkg.msu" - the program tha

Virtual PC and XP Mode

We all know that XP Mode is availavle only for Win 7 Pro and Ultimate.
There is a tutorial from another website ( a wel-known site ) posting a method to instal XP Mode in Windows 7 Home Premium, as well as in Vista.
My question :
Is it legal ?
Will there be adverse effect employing that method ?
