Is Win XP Mode available in Windows 8?
location:
microsoft.com - date:

I'm running WinXP Prof SP3 and want to puchase a new PC.
I need to run Win XP Mode for certain of my software that will probably not work in Win 7 or 8.
Is Win XP Mode available in Windows 8 or do I write Win 8 off as "useless" for my needs and rather source a copy of Windows 7 Prof 64 Bit?
Please I need professional confirmation, not guesses as to "it might"/ possibly/I think it should still work in Win 8 etc.
Many thanks.

Windows 7 XP mode Upgrade
location:

I now have a dual boot system with W7 Home Premium 64 Bit on one drive and my old XP 32Bit on another drive.
I am thinking of upgrading to W7 Professional so I can have the XP mode ability in W7..
This is what it says on the Microsoft site:
Installing and using Windows XP ModeTo use Windows XP Mode, you need to download and install Windows XP Mode, which is a fully licensed version of Windows XP with Service Pack 3. You also need to download and install Windows Virtual PC, which is the program that runs virtual operating systems on your computer.
When you install a program in Windows XP Mode, the program becomes available for use in both Windows XP Mode and Windows 7.
My questions are:
1--Is the licensed version of Windows XP Mode I

VirtualBox and Virtual XP mode--very simple questions
location:

I would like to have a virtual Windows 7 machine to experiment with new software. I plan to try VirtualBox first (since I have Windows 7 Professional I could use Microsoft's virtual capability, but my understanding is that VirtualBox is superior), but I can't locate the answer to a very simple question: Can I use my Dell Windows 7 installation disk with VirtualBox or it is necessary to acquire a second copy of Windows 7?
If I have to have a second copy of Windows 7 then I'm afraid I'm very unclear on what to buy and where I can get it: On eBay and Amazon I see lots of versions of Windows 7 (all of them pretty expensive), from System Builder versions to Upgrade versions. Can anyone give me some guidance on this?
Finally, if I use Microso

Brother MFC-J835DW All-in-One Printer Kernel-mode Error on Install to 64 bit Windows 8
location:

Brother has a Windows 8 driver for the 64 bit machine, but it will not install because Windows 8 disallows the installation of a kernel-mode driver. Brother tells me that Microsoft or HP has to fix the problem by allowing the kernel-mode driver to be installed.
I'm surprised that Brother would develop a kernel-mode driver, so I suspect a problem with the driver setup. Regardless, is there a work-around to install this driver?
I have tried changing policies related to kernal mode drivers, but they do not seem relevant for Windows 8.
The system is a HP laptop with Cintrino Processor. The system has been running 64 bit Windows 7 for several years without any problems. This is last remaining problem in my upgrade to W

I finally got around to testing XP Mode both for home and corporate use. As an IT Administrator I have mixed feelings because 1. It does make virtualization easier but 2. At what cost?
Here is the full review and opinion. Feedback welcome: Jorge Orchilles

Does Windows XP Mode = Compatibility Mode?
location:
7forums.com - date:
February 7, 2010
Hi all!
I've heard that Windows 7 Home Premium doesn't include the "Windows XP Mode" and I'm told on the MS's website that it's a separate download, with an image showing totally XP-themed window in the 7 environment. Windows 7 Features: Windows XP Mode
I'm running Ultimate and I recall no separate download, yet I have the Compatibility Mode available.
So, what I'm asking is... Does the "XP Mode" mean the "Compatibility Mode" or is it a different beast altogether?
Thanks!
