Sharing existing XP mode image with all Win7 users
location:

Hello.
I have a Windows 7 64 bit pc that is used by several users...
I installed VirtualPC and configured XP mode just like the way i wanted it...i.e. joined the domain and installed older apps...
Now I need this XP mode to be available to all the users that will use this pc...
I found one suggestion here but seems like I'm missing something...I found the .vhd file under my login (since i installed and configured xp mode) and pasted it under C:\Users\Public\
I logged in as another user and launched virtualpc but i dont see an option to use an existing vhd
Please help...

I have a fresh windows 7 pro install on a new machine. For the sake of this email, lets say that machine is called HHH. I joined that machine to workgroup GGG. The machine is DHCP into my router.
I created a new XP mode Virtual. Called the new virutual VVV, joined it into the same workgroup GGG.
I've opened up all networking from the 7 pro host. tried required password and not required password for sharing.
From the host if I navigate to \\HHH (itself) I see all drives, shares and printers as expected.
From the the virtual VVV XP if go to \\tsclient I can see drives on the host but no printers. If I check the USB tab under VVV (xp virtual) I see the three printers on my host, but If I select printers from XP VVV I see no printers av

Sharing a printer in XP mode?
location:
7forums.com - date:

My printer is attached via USB. I can get my printer installed in both Windows 7 and XP mode. In XP mode it shows as shared in USB devices. However, it is online in Windows 7 and can be used, but offline in XP mode. If I click Attach it will work in XP mode, but then shows as offline in Windows 7 and can't be used. Inintegration features the Printers box is check, as well as enable at startup.
Is it possible to use the printer on both machines without havind to attach and unattach it?
Thanks for any help.

Printing to printer installed in XP Mode
location:

I have a print driver that is not compatible with Windows 7. I installed it in XP mode, and see the printer there. (this is Castelle Faxpress fax software... the driver is installed with the software). However I don't see the printer in Windows 7 where I really need it. I was hoping that installing a printer in XP mode would magically make it available to Windows 7 also.
Since the print driver won't install in Windows 7, I'm not able to simply share the XP Mode based printer and then install the port and driver in Windows 7.
Is there a simple way to make the printers from XP mode available to the host Win 7 machine?

How can I install a printer in XP Mode within Windows 7?

I have an HP Laserjet 1320 installed as one of my W7 printers and it works fine in W7. That printer shows up as "Shared" when I click on "USB" at the top of the XP Mode Window, but it doesn't show up in my list of printers, either when I click on "Printers and Faxes" in XP Mode or when I run programs in XP Mode and click on Print. I tried the "Add a printer" option in "Printers and Faxes" in XP Mode, but it didn't detect the HP as a Plug and Play printer and I didn't want to mess anything up by incorrectly trying to install the HP manually, so I then tried other methods suggested on the Web, but to no avail.
I started to change "Shared" under "USB" in XP Mode to &q

Sharing an Internet Connection with Windows Virtual PC XP Mode
location:

Hi there,
I recently installed a genuine version of Windows Virtual PC with XP Mode and updated to Service Pack 1 to use it.
I successfully managed to run Windows XP Mode. Now some of my softwares which might not run on Windows 7, are running smoothly on XP Mode.
The problem is now that I have only one internet connection and I work on the internet all the time I am on PC.
I have some software on both of them (Win 7 and Virtual XP) which I want to grant internet access.
Since I have only one connection, the only way is to share an internet connection between these two.
I know the method to share an internet connection between two computers but don't have any idea on how to share an internet connection between Windows 7 and Virtual

Weird printer sharing issue - XP and Win7

Hi,
I have 5 computers networked. 3 are Win 7 and 2 are XP Pro SP3.
The printer is connected to an XP machine and can be seen by all computers.
They are all in the same workgroup.
The 2 XP computers can share the printer normally and as long as the machine with the printer is on I can print without problems.
The 3 Windows 7 machines cannot.
I have tried all tricks I found here. I added the printer to Windows 7 as a local printer and added a local port that points to the XP machine (//XPComputer/Printer). That didn't work either and it seems to be the way people get it to work between XP and Windows 7.
I tried adding a network printer and although it sees the printer in the printer list, it hangs adding the printer or after adding the prin

How to install a Network Printer on Windows XP Mode from Windows & Pro?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
November 15, 2010
I have read several threads on here but can't quite find the answer.
1. I have a desktop running XP which has the HP LaserJet 1020 hooked up.
2. I have a notebook with Windows 7 Pro and the HP is installed as a Network Printer.
3. I have Windows XP Mode.
The reason why I need to a network printer on XP Mode is because I have old programs which I need to print from.
How do I get XP Mode to print to the desktop?
Any help will be very appreciated...
thanks

How do I add a network printer in XP mode?
location:

I've recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64, dual-booting with XP-Pr0 x32, and have installed the XP mode VM in order to use my scanner and USB microscope, for which there are no X64 drivers.
I use an HP networked printer on the host system, but cannot access it from the XP mode guest; the list of available printers is empty.
When I try to add a printer to the guest, I choose "Networked printer" instead of "Locally attached", then select "Browse for a printer", but all I find is "Microsoft Windows Network", which results in "You need to specify a valid network printer name" when I press the "Next" button.
How can I use the networked print in the guest?
