I have several time tried to install SP1 on my home computer (os Windows 7 home premium 64 bit) but keep receiving the same error - I also have run multiple hotfixes and the system update readiness tool (checksur.exe) which seems to indicate that I have 8 problematic files - I have seen several similar posts here and thought I would try as well - my CheckSUR.log is attached.
Any assistance will be very greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I'm unable to install Windows 7 SP1 on a Sony VAIO notebook running Windows 7 x64 Pro.
I've tried all the answers and suggestions from this thread:

but none of them have helped.

Failure to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 error 80041002

I have tried to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 64 bit several times and it always fails and I get the error code 80041002.
I e "Windows Update troubleshooter" and the "fixit" program
I have tried all 3 recommended steps to address this issue, namely:
Run the System Update Readiness Tool
Run a troubleshooter

Hello
I am having trouble installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1 using Windows Update. I really want it so that I can get IE10 on my machine.
I tried the following:
1. Running System Update Readiness Tool
2. Running Windows Update diagnostic tool
3. Running Fix WU utility
4. Disabling Windows Firewall
5. Disabling Microsoft Forefront Client Security User Interface
6. Running CCCleaner and cleaning up the registry
7. Renaming C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.old. Renaming C:\Windows\system32\catroot2 to C:\Windows\system32\catroot2.old
but nothing seems to work .

Every time I try to download Win 7 "Starter" 32 bit Service pack 1 onto my ACER Aspire 1 netbook(no DVD player), I get the following error code after the download fails: error code 800b0100 . Nothing works. Other updates download, but not SP1. I need a
"tried it all, nothing works" fix. I turned off mcafee, ran the "fix it" tool, went to the broken website.. nothing works.

I am unable to install Service Pack 1 to Windows 7 Starter. In checking the update history I found four separate failures dealing with updates. The Service Pack 1 update has failed about 36 times. I have also discovered 5 failures which were not successful
either on the first try with no follow-up or a second failure with the follow up. The service pack 1 failure KB976932 has always given a failure code of 800B0100. The other KB numbers which have failed are 915597 (Definitions 1.85.1714.0 and 1.95.2886.0);
