I installed windows 8 on my netbook, but the apps don't open, error message pops up "Screen resolution too low for this app to run". what do I do?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
March 1, 2012
I click on change screen resolution and there is a message on the screen:
"Screen resolution is lower than 1024x768. Some items might not fit and apps might not open."
As I am using a netbook there is no higher resolution available. I thought windows 8 was made to run on any machine, no matter the screen resolution it had.

Windows 8 not working on notebook, screen resolution too low, no warning given prior to purchase
location:
microsoft.com - date:
December 12, 2012
Despite Windows 8 doing a comprehensive sytsem check on my Acer one 522 laptop prior to installation, no warning was given that it wouldnt work properly. It is working on its maximum screen resolution which is too low for any of the apps to work. I wouldnt
have purchased it if i have thought it wouldnt work.
I need to trial windows 8 so that i can advise pupils in the school where i work, as they start bringing in their devices.
Will there ever be a fix for this issue which must be effecting many users?

"interpolating" up means you lose detail. And you need a driver specifically for this display. OQO obviously provided one for Windows 7. If you cannot use the Windows 7 driver then you have to ask OQO. Remember, drivers are the responsibility of the
manufacturer.
Also, you need a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768, so only the second interpolation mode (1200 x 720) will do. With a native resolution of the screen of just 800 x 480 that means the interpolation has to represent two pixels with just one pixel. And that
doesn't even fulfill the requirement for snapping apps (which is 1366 x 768 and many appliucations will take this as a minimum, anyway).
So, even if OQO can provide you with a Windows 8 driver it's hardly

How to run Metro apps and use Snap feature on low screen resolutions
location:

Hello, everyone. Have you ran into this message: "This app can't open
The screen resolution is too low for this app to run. Change your screen resolution"
This tutorial will teach you how to run metro apps and use the snap feature on computers that run less than 1024 x 768 screen resolution. It is a fairly simple process of 2 small registry tweaks. Netbooks mainly run 1024 x 600. A little short to almost complete OS usability. Just follow the steps, which I have done myself, and it will be good in no time. Beware, I'm not responsible for any problems or defects to your device that happen during this tutorial. Proceed with caution. Enabling the snap feature: Press WIN+R. Type in regedit and click Enter. "metro" apps won't run, resolution too low
location:

So I decided to plug my tablet into an HD monitor using HDMI, the tablet changes to 1280x720 which was expected, then I go to launch the Netflix app and it says resolution too low. I check all my other "metro" apps and they say the same thing. Is there a way to work around this?
My display chip is not happy at 1920x1080 and for what I'm watching the 720 streams would be better. I tried running Netflix through Media Center, but the processor is too low to make this work, same goes for a web browser like Firefox (a non-"metro" application).

Windows 8 Modern UI apps will not start up, incorrectly claiming that my resolution is too low.
location:
microsoft.com - date:
March 14, 2013
For some unknown reason, in the last two weeks or so, many of the built-in Windows 8 Modern UI apps (Weather, Finance, Travel, Sports) and some downloaded from the store (NBCNews and Google Search) simply do not work although some, like the Kindle app
and the Skydrive app, still work. By "not work," I mean that I will turn on the app and less than 1 second after attempting to load, the app just auto-closes.
