I have a new Windows 8 computer and bought a piece of software that says it's Windows 7. Can I still install it and make it work? I didn't have my glasses with me at the time and didn't think about it being too soon to purchase software after the windows
8 intro and Walmart won't refund.

ssid and what does windows 7 call wpa-psk[tkip] + wpa2-psk[aes] ?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
December 4, 2011
I am trying to get a new windows 7 laptop to connect wirelessly to my existing home network which consists of an xp laptop (wireless) and a vista desktop (wired) and a netgear router.
I am looking at a dialog (on the windows 7 laptop) named "Manually connect to a wireless network".
1) The dialog wants a "Network name". Is that what is often called an "ssid"?
2) My Netgear router says, under Security Options", that it is using "wpa-psk[tkip] + wpa2-psk[aes] ", but that is not an option in the windows 7 dialog. The choices in the windows 7 dialog are wep, wpa2-personal, wpa-personal, wpa2-enterprise, wpa-enterprise,
and 802.1x. What's the windows 7 equivalent of "wpa-psk[tkip] + wpa2-psk[aes] "?
Thanks,&n

*original title - what is windows 7, is it a free download or do you have to buy it. I already have windows 8 downloaded, what is the difference in these two programs.*

Windows 7 Software RAID
location:
7forums.com - date:

I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I have a single 500GB hard drive, which contains 2 partitions. The first partition is about 265MB and contains Windows 7. The second partition contains Windows XP Professional 32-bit, as I occasionally need to boot into XP for some software development and testing.
I would like to add a second hard drive, and use it to mirror the Windows 7 partition using Windows 7 software RAID 1, thus providing me with some protection should one drive fail. If I purchase another identical 500GB hard drive, and make a partition of the same size (265MB), will I be able to mirror my Windows 7 setup in the way intended, or can anyone foresee any problems or issues? I am NOT intending to mirror the Windows

Windows 7 software mirroring (raid 1) and MBR
location:

Hi, I have been using windows 7 mirroring for quite some time. My main boot drive failed so I removed it and inserted a new drive in its place. Everything works fine except when I try to boot windows.
Normally I see two boot options and the first one is to the (now replaced) boot drive. The second is to the "Secondary plex". I currently cannot boot from the "primary plex" and instead can do so through the secondary plex. How can I fix this?
I tried various tools so far such as EasyBCD 2.0 but fixes made only show when I boot from the secondary plex. Even after renaming the names with BCD I see no change in the boot menu while I do see the change after secondary plex boot (after I boot to windows not during actual b
