Hello! I'm searching for solutions for reducing the winsxs stuff. First, I'm not a layman so I don't need an umpteenth reiteration, that I shouldn't delete anything because they're backups and variants of dlls. I simply don't need it. I pretty much use the same programs for the most part and I can solve a plain dll problem if needed, I don't need old variants of my unproblematically functioning graphic driver etc... Actually I prefer having portable variants of programs that have anything they need. Dll hell is heaven compared to winsxs hell. So basically what I want is: 1. Firstly to remove backups, duplicates of all sorts. So basically I need something to identify these compared to things that are actually used and remov

Windows 8 is a real problem I believe

I thought Windows 7 was bad, but thought they must have improved it with Windows 8. How wrong was I. Most of my progams wouldn't run. Its a disaster in my opinion. I know some businesses are now allowing Windows XP to be used in place of Windows 2000, as they now believe most of the bugs have been removed. Will they ever allow Windows 8? I doubt it. Whats gone so wrong?

I've been having performance issues between the Windows 7 side of my dual boot system and the Windows 8 side. And Windows 7 consistently out performs Windows 8. In Nova Bench for example I have a dozen or more Windows 8 (Pro) tests in the 600-700 range, I can tweak the results a bit by adjusting the multiplier for my CPU or using the "extreme" setting in ASUS's Ai Suite for OCing. But the difference is clear, Nova Benchmarks for this same hardware running in Win7 (Home Premium) are about 50% better with scores consistently in the 900-1080 range. 1080 is my high water mark. Speculations about Windows 8????? Look at this video: YouTube - The real Windows 8? and several others linked to it. The guy who uploaded it claims that it wasn't his video and that he had found that somewhere on the Internet but the question is: Is that for real??? Or is it just a fake one with some fancy modified theme??? Looking at the UI, its looks so advanced though. I know that many of you would say that its a little bit too early for Windows 8 cause we are still enjoying Windows 7 until we get bored one day. But discussing the future can't be that bad especially if we could help develop something ahead of time so when it does come out, we would have less to complain than ever.

I bought a copy of Windows 7 ultimate off ebay, at the time when I activated the key, everything was fine, until recent when I reformatted my PC I realised that I have been scammed, the key I have a MSDN key, the disk inside in fake because the hologram can be peeled off. I can not activate the key because MS have blocked my key, which means I have wasted my money. In the future how can I tell if my version is real or fake without opening the plastic wrap, that way I can at least claim a refund. If there is a link of real Windows 7 and fake Windows 7 side by side, that would be great. Thanks.

Second monitor's videos stuttering while gaming on first monitor, Any solutions?

Hi there, My M.O. is to use both my monitors. My main one I use for gaming on full screen and the second monitor I use to watch videos. After Installing Windows 8 however, the second monitor video stutters/has heavy frame skipping (sound is unaffected) when attempting to do the aforementioned. It has happened with multiple games (tried an older one like Mass Effect 1, or a newer one like Batman: Arkham City). It also happens with all video: I tried using VLC to play some, as well as using Netflix online with the same result, so it doesn't seem to be software related.
