So I was able to get Windows 7 as a student. I have a desktop with XP that I want to wipe so that I can start out again without all of the commercial clutter that came with my computer originally. However, I have several years of documents, music, and pictures that I would like saved as well as software and the settings from my browsers. How do I ensure that I can get my all of old data on the new machine? And if you think this is a terrible idea and think there is another approach feel free to share.

Installing GTA IV on windows 7..what do I need to know?

I tried installing this game once and it ran in super low motion. I never received an error mesage or anything. I uninstalled it and revoked the activation from Rockstar so I could reinstall it. Can someone help me install this so that it works properly? I will need step by step instructions because I am a major novice when it comes to these things. Also, I heard I may need to update it once I install it? is that true? If so, how do I do that? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! SS

apparently I'm not a very good windows 8 salesman ! someone I've done work for wants to keep an older HP laptop, and put windows 7 on it despite the sweet pricing on windows 8. If I just wander out and buy a license at bestbuy... that's EXPENSIVE!! What's the best pricing you know of? I think they have teachers in the fam somewhere but I dunno if there is a deal for 'education'

New Windows 7 computer - how do I transfer old Word to Word 2013?

I made the Easy Transfer using the ET cable yesterday. The files and setting of my old Windows 7 computer are now in my new Windows 7 computer. I have Microsoft Word 2013 on my new computer but it's empty. How can I get the documents from Word 2003 on my old computer to the new one? I also have a lot of documents on my Works version 9 on the old computer. Can I transfer these to Word 2013? I suppose I could do it all manually but I'm hoping that someone knows of a trick to do the job fast.

Windows 7 search does not find partial matches - when will this be fixed or is there a workaround?

Windows search (in Windows 7 and Vista) will only find a partial filename (and file contents I assume) match if the text is at the BEGINNING of the string. It will not find a string within a filename (file content?). This greatly diminshes the value of search and I thought it would have been addressed by now. Example: I have a file named invoicenumber12345.doc If I search on invoicenumber the file appears in the results. If I search on number12345, 12345 or any other subset of characters that appear in the name I get nothing. This makes it impossible to find files based on partial knowledge. Example: I know I sent a letter to Joe Smith but I can't find it because I named the file lettertojoesmith.doc Because of the search

Windows 8 product key isn't working when i try to add features to windows 8, what to do?

Control panel>System and security>System, under the label of windows edition there is an option of "Add features to your edition", when i write my 25 digit key it says:  "This key won't work check it & try again or try a different key" What to do now? :/
