IE Crash from googletoolbar1.dll (XP home with all service packs and secur
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
July 9, 2005
For the past two weeks I have been getting continuous crashes if I have more than 4 IE 6 browser windows open. The crash creates a message that googletoolbar1.dll has caused the problem. I have explored everything at the Google site, have attempted to disable the dll through my add ons, including going to MS to download their add on manager for hidden add ons tool.
Google has been less than helpful and I have tried all the fixes they recommend. I know that the easy fix is to just uninstall Google toolbar, but I use it all the time, and I want my cake and want to eat it too! This is a recent occurrence and I can't figure out why it is happening.
These are the troubleshooting steps I have taken:
1) uninstalled/reinstalled Google Toolbar tw

MSConfig.exe - Unable to Locate Component...This application failed to start because MFC42u.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

I am using XP.
When I try to fix the problem by running sfs /scannow, I get the message:
"Files that are required for windows to run properly must be copied to the DLL cache...insert you windows XP professional service pack 3 cd now"
My machine came with XP preinstalled on D: drive. I did make the HP Recovery Disc when I got the machine, but these disc don't work for this and I can't seem to redirect the scan to look on the "D" drive assuming that is the correct thing to do.
I have run windows one care and it says I have 150 errors it can't fix. Before these problems started, it never reported more than one error it couldn't fix.

C:\CI.dll Corrupt file crash - help!
location:
7forums.com - date:
May 15, 2011
Hi guys,
this morning while torrenting some stuff I got a virus (I immagine) that instantly restarted my computer and I got an unusual "loading files" message ... it then proceeded into an endless loop of startup repair that fails... and then I have to shutdown and it all starts again.
When i check the results of the failed scan i discovered that the corrupt file is C:\CI.dll
So I've been searching all over for something to solve it, but unluckily I don't have a Windows 7 CD to install (came with the computer already installed) and I haven't backed up any of my files
I've already tried various things such as disabling restart from the advanced boot menu, the Sfc /scannow, infinite loop repair, System restore to an earlier

When exploring folders and files, right clicking folders on any level works but a right click on any file in any level results in a crash with this info.
AppName: explorer.exe
AppVer: 6.0.2900.5512
ModName: msvcr90.dll
ModVer: 9.0.30729.6161
I tried disabling recently installed shell extensions in the context menu with ShellExView to no avail. I repaired the win xp pro installation and run a clean sfc /scannow.
I have downloaded the registry file on Line 349 - Right Click - Error on http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and merged it with the registry.
The system has been fully scanned with AVG Internet Security, Adaware free and Spybot Search and Destroy. No problems. I have noticed another behavio

I don't know when this program was installed. However I saw it once on my program list when uninstalling another program but when I went back to check it out it was no longer listed under programs...but I found it in my Cdrive.
I found some directions on line but the prompts given did not match my sytem........I didn't see an "install log" as directed nor did I see uninstall exec ot unwise prompt....
Maybe because I have window ultimate.. the prompts are different perhaps....This is really slowing my system down tremondously...You quick reponse is appreciated...
So here are the directions I saw online:
