System Restore Not Working - Windows 7 x64
location:
7forums.com - date:
November 26, 2009
hi all,
My system protection system restore function is not working. The options in the system protection tab are greyed out.
The service starts and then stops. This is affecting installing and uninstalling programs. Most programs attempt to do a system restore before installing or uninstalling and they will just hang until the system restore feature gives up.
The event viewer is giving these errors:
I wonder if it has something to do with x64 ? Should the image path in regedit be set to the vss in syswow64 or system32?
Thanks for any help you can give.

nView Solution - Got it working for Windows 7 x64
location:
7forums.com - date:
July 18, 2009
Ok Peoples. Ive been doing some research on how to fix the nView with Windows 7 Issue. Forgive me if someone has already posted this, but haven't been able to find anything else on the net with this fix.
Its a big of a muck-around.. but not too hard.
I'll try to make this as n00b proof as i can possibly can:
Step 1 - Download the latest Drivers from the nVidia website
Step 2 - Download WinRAR
Step 3 - Open the Driver file with WinRAR and extract the nView.CAB file (onto your desktop for now)
Step 4 - Open the nView.cab file with WinRAR and extract all the files into a folder on your desktop
Setp 5 - Run the nviewsetup.exe file as normal.
**Note - Some features are missing from the application, but most of the important features

How can i know if TRIM command is working on windows 7 x64?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
April 10, 2010
To check if TRIM is activated get to the cmd.exe and write as administrator "fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify" Press enter. If the answer "DisableDeleteNotify=0" then the TRIM is activated. If the answer is "DisableDeleteNotify=1" then you have
to activate TRIM.To do that write "fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 0". Press enter. Hope this is useful.

keyboard shortcut not working - winflag + E - windows 7 x64
location:

I am running windows 7 home premium X64. Recently my keyboard shortcut for explorer/my computer win flag + E stopped working. When I do that now, a box opens with a X in a red circle, saying unspecified error. I re-booted, re-booted into safe mode and
same thing. I dual-boot with XP and that still works fine.
Any thoughts? Thanks.

Windows 7 x64 "Event Viewer has stopped working"
location:
7forums.com - date:
October 12, 2012
Whenever I launch Event Viewer, I get this message. Ditto when I try launching Computer Management. I sometimes get a message about Adding a snap-in to console. But it never works. I ran SFC SCANNOW and it fix some stuff requiring a restart and is running clean now. No improvement.
I tried going back to an image from several weeks ago. Event Viewer worked but when I ran SFC SCANNOW and restarted, it stopped working again. If I run mmc.exe, I get a single folder Console Root. Trying to launch Event Viewer from the File menu crashes it. Running services the same way works. Running Component Management crashes.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Windows 7 x64 freezes freezing iTunes iPod iPhone iPad sync [SOLVED]
Ok..... this one had me really tearing my hair out. For months, trying to get iTunes to "see" my Apple iPhone on my Windows 7 x64 system was like pulling teeth. But I've finally got it to work with a compatibility workaround!
Symptoms:
1) Start iTunes
2) Plug in iPhone
3) iTunes freezes for at least 5 minutes or longer
4) iTunes becomes responsive but no iPhone is recognised (thus no sync can happen)
This would also happen with 1) & 2) reversed (i.e. plugin phone (which Windows 7 x64 recognises immediately)) and then start iTunes. Same freeze up/lock up for 5 mins or longer.
What I tried:
I'd love to bill Apple f
