Windows 8 OEM?
location:

I am getting promotional emails from Newegg, advertising a sale on Windows 8 "full version" and "Pro." All of them say "OEM".
Can't a person just buy the "full version" or the "pro" version without it having to be OEM too so they can put it on any brand of computer they happen to have whenever they happen to have it? For example, it makes good sense to buy a new desktop computer with a lower version of Windows on it (no I don't mean RT), and have your own copy of a pro version you can upgrade to. I bought my own Windows 7 Pro and it did not say OEM on it.
Will all Windows 8 packages say OEM on them so you have to buy for a specific computer? If that's true, what's the point? Do they ma

Clean install Upgrade of Windows 8 (OEM) to Windows 8 Pro
location:
winsecrets.com - date:

My aim is to do a “clean install with EUFI” upgrade of the current operating system Win 8 (OEM) on a new Asus ET2701 to Win 8 Pro. I have purchased a retail version of Windows 8 Pro Upgrade disk.
I did not receive any software disks with my purchase of the hardware. The hard drive contained 5 partitions (which included a hidden recovery partition) and I have added a number of other partitions using Terabytes Bootit Baremetal.
I see that I need to make the installation to a “blank, partition free” hard drive (http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials...ndows-8-a.html). I have booted from the Win 8 Pro disk with EUFI bios ok and looked at the installation procedure.
My concern is that if I delete ALL the partitions on my hard drive (and

Windows 8 OEM license question.
location:

I bought myself the upgrade windows 8 license back when it was on sale, burnt the disk and am loving windows 8.
I finally convinced my sister to get a new laptop with windows 8 but she want's me to clean off all the bloatware that always comes with buying a laptop. What I used to do in the past was borrow my friends win 7 OEM disk and do a fresh install using the laptops
key.
Is it possible to do this with the upgrade disk or do I have to get a hold of a the windows 8 OEM disk? I know normally these laptops come with recovery disks it's just they normally reinstall all the bloat so I normally try and avoid using it.
So is this possible and is it legal?
Regards,
Chris

Windows 8 OEM to Windows 8 Pro OEM
location:

I bought a new Asus UX32VD that came with Windows 8. I purchased and installed a new SSD to replace the existing HD. The laptop didn't come with a recovery DVD. I purchased Windows 8 Pro OEM from Amazon. When I installed the Pro version on the blank SSD, I ended up with the same Windows 8 version that original came with the laptop, minus the recovery partition. I resized the C and D partitions to my liking. I wasn't asked for the Product Key for the Pro version and Windows passively activated.
Is it not possible for me to replace the OEM Windows 8 with the OEM Pro version? I know there is the Pro Pack, but I already spent a lot on the OEM Pro version. I tried entering the Product Key from the OEM Pro in the text box where the Pro

Reinstall Windows 8 OEM- no product key

I've seen similar problems to this all over the place. I bought a Lenovo laptop with Windows 8 installed on a 1 TB HDD and used a 16GB mSATA SSD as a cache. My plan was/is to upgrade the 16GB SSD to 120GB and install the OS to it. Lenovo support initially told me this was impossible, but I talked them into send me the system restore disks, however they proved to be of limited utility.
I installed the new SSD but the options weren't there in the recovery disks to choose the install location, it just reinstalled to the HDD. So I used a Windows 7 install disk and did a clean install of Windows 7. So the computer is set up how I want it now (OS on SSD and User and ProgramData folders on HDD) except I'd like to upgrade it to Windo

Trouble booting from Windows 8 OEM disc for installation
location:
microsoft.com - date:

I am trying to install Windows 8 from OEM Pro Disc on an older drive that still has Windows XP 32 bit on it. There are problems with this XP because I moved the drive from a broken computer to another one and it is no longer recognized as genuine windows.
I currently can't connect to the internet on this drive to re-activate it.
Because of this, I am trying a clean install but can't get it to work. I set the BIOS to boot from the dvd drive. I get the message "Press any key to boot from cd/dvd". After that, the drive runs awhile and all I see are the 4 blue windows....after awhile
they disappear and the drive stops and nothing else happens. I have Intel 2.4 GHZ, 2 GB ram, and directx 9 but I
