New computer running Windows 7, unexpected I/O error 0xc00000e9
location:
microsoft.com - date:
December 29, 2009
We have a brand new computer, only 2 days old, and all of a sudden we are getting this error upon booting up:
Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer
If you continue to receive this error message contact the hardware manufacturer
Status: 0xc00000e9
Info: An unexpected I/O error has occured
All I can do is hit Enter or ESC and either key causes the computer to reboot, bringing me back to the same error screen. I have unplugged everything from the computer except the monitor, keyboard, and mouse. What can I do?

location:

Noeldp,
Here is the new thread for my windows 7 not genuine. Background info: Used your fix from my first post to fix the issue and it worked. After downloading Platform Update for Windows 7 x64-Edition (KB2670838) the computer rebooted and the issue came back again. I ran your suggestion and uploaded the root nt report. Also reposting the MGAD report that I posted earlier.
Ran sfc/scannow: report no integration issues.
Do you want me to run System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems? Code:

New computer: Issues Windows 7 from XP carbonite transfer
location:

First I can do simple tasks, but that is it.
I bought a new computer for the farm, Lenovo 62bit Windows 7, etc.
Had downloaded old machine XP to Carbonite, then reloaded new one.
EVERY picture requires me to take ownership
Cannot open any documents, even if I take ownership
My favorites on IE that transfered do not work and if I save a new favorite, I cannot find it.
This sucks.
Help me please.

Unable to map drive to external hard drive from new laptop with windows 7 - 64 bit
location:

I just got a new laptop with windows 7 - 64 bit. When I try to map a drive to my external hard drive, it attempts to connect but then returns the message "the network path cannot be found". I have even tried using the ip address. The external drive is
turned on and I can map to it from other computers in my house. When I click on Browse, within the map network drive window, and then the network folder, I only see what is on my pc.

Reformat Computer With Windows 7 Ulimate Upgrade
location:
microsoft.com - date:

I want to reformat my computer. It originally had Windows Vista x86-32 on it, but I later upgraded it to Windows 7 Ultimate x86-32. So can I just reformat it and re-install Windows 7 Ultimate, or do I need to go through some special process?
Also on a side note, would it be an issue if I installed to Windows 7 Ultimate x86-64 this time?
Another thing that might be helpful, how might I go about looking up my Windows Vista/Windows 7 product key?
