New computer with Windows 7 won't work anymore
location:

I've only had my new computer with Windows 7 for just over a week and it won't work anymore. It goes into Startup Repair and says it can't repair this computer automatically. I press "Finish" and then it just restarts again showing the logo of the motherboard on screen and then goes back into Startup Repair again.
I called the shop where I bought it and they said it is possible I was loading too much software on too quickly. It is a computer I use for business so I wasn't loading any rubbish on and I didn't install that much - Office suite, antivirus, modem software, printer driver.
Is this something that could have cause it or are they just putting the blame on me? Also, if anyone knows what this problem is any help would b

Windows Easy Transfer won't work for me between my old laptop with Windows XP and my new laptop with Windows 7.

I am trying to transfer my various files to my new laptop computer configured with Windows 7 from my old laptop computer configured with Windows XP Professional, using the Windows Easy Transfer program which I found on my old laptop. I have tried to make
the transfer through my home wireless network and when that failed to work.. I interconnected the two laptops with a cable, (the same cable style one uses to connect one's computer to a modem or router, not a SSB cable).
So in summary, I simply want to transfer to my new laptop all my files from my old laptop. I copied the My Data master file from my old laptop onto a "stick" assuming I could simply download from t

Big Mistake Buying a New Computer with Windows 8
location:
8forums.com - date:
December 4, 2012
Decided to buy a new computer to replace one loaded with Malware and having older computer cleaned and used as a backup to two other home/office computers. Not only is it a pain to learn a totally new operating system when needing to get documents done in a rush but none of my HP printers have drivers for Windows 8. So, now what. Buy new printers or maybe just dump the PCs for Macs - although I'm not a big fan of Apple, I am beginning to be less of a fan of Microsoft - Stop trying to make me use Bing. Maybe I can take the computer somewhere and have Windows 8 removed and 7 installed. At least then I will have a functional office. (Just venting)

Changing to a new motherboard with Windows 7
location:
microsoft.com - date:
November 23, 2010
We have a notherboard that is fairly old, and has some issues. We have purchased a newer board, a different brand, although similar configuration as to memory and expansion slots. We will keep the same cpu and peripherals. My question is, will Windows 7
freak out when we change this board? Or will it recognize it in the way it recognizes other hardware changes?
When we put the new board in, should we just start it right up?
If we do have to reinstall windows, will windows 7 reinstall without having to format the drive?
Thanks
Amanda

my new computer with windows 8 won't print my pdf files, prints everything else fine.

I just grabbed a random .pdf file on the Metro side, and the default PDF app in Windows 8 brought up the file fine. I then brought up the Charms bar and selected DEVICES. This shows all my various devices (including printers) that apps are capable
of pushing a document to. I selected on of my printers and then a dialogue box came up to allow me to choose # of copies, what pages, etc., I printed the PDF with no problem.
I guess that is another way to do it. But I was confused when I could not find a print option. Charms bar???? A windows 8 secret?

How can I setup a computer with Windows 7 to be used as Kiosk computer
location:

April 27, 2010
Hi,
We need Windows 7 in so called "Kiosk mode" with single application running.
All keyboard shortcuts (including Ctrl-Alt-Del) allowing to leave the running application should be blocked.
Is there a way to do this under Windows 7?
Thank you in advance
/Boris
