Where is Windows XP Mode in Windows 8?
location:
8forums.com - date:

I saw a MS video in which the Windows chief said that "what we have done, we took all good things from Windows 7 and put them in Windows 8". So there should be Windows Xp mode too in Windows 8. Is that there in Windows 8? Or does Windows 8 run all software which Windows 7+XP Mode runs? Also would it be possible to dual boot Windows 7 with Windows 8? Kindly inform.

I have a 32-bit Windows XP system. The hardware is up to date (been upgrading over the years). Can I use the 64-bit Windows 8 Pro Update version?
I do not need to preserve any Windows XP settings or files. I just want to be able to install Windows 8 Pro Upgrade from a 32-bit Windows XP license.

Is there a way to revert the Windows 8 START Screen to the Windows XP or Windows 7 format?

HELP! Is there ANY way to revert the Windows 8 START Screen to the Windows XP or Windows 7 format? I am new to Win8 and am finding it VERY Clunky, time consuming and EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING to navigate. There's an old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix
it!" Obviously this old advice was not used in creating Windows 8.

File in use cancels copy (Windows XP)
location:
winsecrets.com - date:

When I make a copy of a folder that has a "file in use", such as the Windows , Documents & Settings or Symantec folder, when the copy process reaches the file that is in use it cancels the copy process.
It would be nice if it gave me a warning message, but instead of canceling the copying of all other files that haven't been copied as yet, it would continue and copy the rest of the files.
Is there a way to set up Windows XP to do this?
Thanks,
BH

FILE MOVEING (windows xp)
location:

I have some tasks I do several times a week. In the old day you could make a batch file to do some of these tasks or make a BASIC/BASICA program.
I would like to know if this is possible in XP. If so, would someone out there be willing to assist me?
I have a large number of *.bak file I search D:acltdat for and then I move them to D:Zbak
My second task is I search weekly or bi-weekly for all PLOT.LOG files and then I change the attribute to hidden. In doing this when I back up the Acltdata folder to a Jump drive it will skip all the PLOT.LOG files and this is great. But using the Explore, finding the folder then setting up the search takes a lot of wasted time?
