Hi all ,
i have had my new laptop since christmas and windows 8 has already got me to the point where i am fantasising about smashing it up and stabbing the entire windows 8 development team with the bits !!!!!
So a tad fraustrated lol . Its a HP pavilion g6 2244sa . if i uninstal windows 8 and instal windows 7 will it work properly and will i be able to get all the drivers and updates etc .

I've just purchased a hp pavillion g6 it comes preinstalled with windows 8 but i absolutely hate it so i want to downgrade to windows 7 but keep getting a blue box popping up when i try to boot from my windows 7 disc saying "the selected boot device failed. Press <enter>to continue. My machine is x64 and so is my disc.
After doing a bit of research apparently hp have made it as hard as possible to install windows7 on their new machines. What should i do to get it installed?

I just bought an HP laptop with Windows 8 on it. I cant stand windows 8 and wanted to put 7 back on but im running into some problems. When i finally boot from the cd and proceed to install windows, it asks me which disk I want to partition, there are five currently which are below. But i cannot install windows 7 on any of the disks because i keep getting this "windows cannot be installed to this disk. the selected disk is of the GPT partition style"
1. Disk 0 Partition 1:WINRE OEM(Reserved)
2. Disk 0 Partition 2: Type System
3. Disk 0 Partition 3: MSR (Reserved)
4. Disk 0 Partition 4: Primary I HAVE ALREADY FORMATTED MY PRIMARY.
5. Disk 0 Partition 5: RECOVERY
Im stuck right now because my primary disk is formatted and i

Could not decide if this went in hardware. I was considering buying an Asus win 8 laptop. Can I load 7. Anyone know if Asus allows looting in bios mode. Or unsecure mode. Apparently no help from microsoft or asus. User comment follows
Pros: Light Weight, Slim Design, Fits the budget
Cons: Not the easiest thing to open up to swap out the ram.
Takes 11 screws to open up to upgrade the hard drive.
Takes 5 more screws to lift up the mother boards to change out the ram.
Put them all back together is rather, annoying & time wasting.
Fancy UEFI bios, that came "LOCKED" and unable to install a brand new license of Windows 8 on a new SSD from scratch, Microsoft took 3 days to issue a refund for the Windows 8 Pro x64 license

I have tried for a month to figure out how to synch my Outlook 2010 calendar to my Lumia 920 Windows 8 phone. I have faithfully followed all of the steps suggested by AT&T, Nokia, and on-line help sites. All to no avail. I obviously am learning out a step. Is there any way to do what I want to do? Hoping someone can help me.
I have a ASUS P5Q Pro with the Intel raid chipset. I had Windows 7 on a RAID1 mirror (2 drives), Windows on a C partition and my files on another partition.
I bought the Windows 8 upgrade and put it on a USB stick. I installed a 250GB Samsung SSD and another 1TB to act as my D drive for my files. I would get the Windows 8 boot menu with the option to start either or. Note that when I installed 8, I still had my Windows 7 drive connected. So my Windows 8 drive does not have a System Reserve space (I only learned of this since my problem).
So I was ready to give up Windows 7 yesterday, and planned to take one of the two hard drives of the Win 7 mirror and use to mirror the new 1TB D drive. I figured

New Windows 8 laptop missing defender antivirus

I bought my mum a new HP laptop yesterday and we intended using the Windows Defender software only. The laptop came with a 60 day Nortons trial which we deselected during the installation. When installation was complete the first thing we checked was that Defender was running. Unfortunately it was disabled. We looked in the Control Panel, Action Centre. Security is listed and switched off but Virus Protection is totally missing so we can't switch it on. I saw no other option but to switch Norton on to protect the laptop. Norton had installed anyway even though we chose not to install it during set up. I really don't want to pay for a Norton upgrade in 60 days time.
My mum isn't very computer literate and I was helping her to set up
