Multiple user profiles under Documents and Settings
location:

I have several Windows XP Pro SP3 machines that have multiple user profiles under the Documents and Settings folder. My pc is one of them. I have tvavra, tvavra.ASL, tvavra.ASL.000 and tvavra.ComputerName . I understand that some of the accounts are
created when errors occur, but I would like to have a procedure to clean up the files. More often than not the reason these folders are created in the first place is that when a user logs in on someone else's machine, they establish these folders. I have
recently needed to redistribute machines in a cost saving campaign and if I can eliminate any of the clutter, I would greatly appreciate the help.

Possible - MULTIPLE Win 7 user profiles with DIFFERENT PASSWORDS???
location:
7forums.com - date:

I want to have separate profiles setup in Win 7 64 where by: Shows one login/user when the system locks and depending upon the password provided.... ....system opens the appropriate, linked profile. Have searched forums, Google, etc...and have come up with nothing. If this is a piece of software or a Windows 7 Hack....I'll do whatever is required.
Think about this if you're a programmer!!! I travel frequently and sometimes need the ball and chain to reboot the system or do something on the local machine but I don't need her snooping (things aren't so great at home). I already use LogMeIn and it works great but I believe in Belt and Suspenders. With something like this, you could give someone "your password" and not have to worr

The User menu selection (the 2nd item) no longer is displayed in Change PC Settings in Windows 8. I checked gpedit.msc and set "Hide entry points for fast user switching" to Disabled, but that didn't help.

Printer not in charm/devices tho list under PC settings
location:
8forums.com - date:
January 29, 2013
I have a new, home-built, hi-spec desktop pc with Win 8 Pro OEM and MS Office Home & Business 2010 installed. I have a Canon Pixma MP990 all in one with Win 8 drivers installed and it shows up in my list of devices under PC Settings/Devices.
I have no problems locating my printer (device) and printing within Office applications . However, I am not able to print a .pdf via Adobe Reader or anything which uses the Win 8 Start page. Ctl+P doesn’t produce a print dialogue and WinKey+K produces Devices but no printers. If I go to Charm/Devices, it lists no printers either. It’s early stages but I’m beginning to regret moving to Win 8 on a desktop pc.
Any ideas, please?
Pedro

Automatic login of multiple user accounts
location:
7forums.com - date:

My apologies if this is in the wrong forum.
Is there a way for me to set up automatic logging in at start up of, lets say, 4-5 user accounts? The accounts serve no purpose other than running different instances of a program that I could then manage from my main account, but for each instance to initialize, I have to manually log in to each account on system startup. (I'm also seeking to find a way to hide those accounts, but I can't do so yet because I have to log in to each account every time I restart my computer.) So a program or registry edit of some sort would be most helpful
I've done some research, but as of now, I've only found a way to auto-log in one account (presumably intended for main accounts) so this is useless to me. (

Windows 8 Pro File History data folder empty / User Profiles moved from C:\Users to D:\Users using mklink /j
location:

Dear Microsoft Community,
I have a Problem with the Windows 8 Pro File History backup application. I can select a backup drive or network folder and the File History backup procedure will immediately create the following Folders:
F:\FileHistory\Username\PCNAME\Configuration
F:\FileHistory\Username\PCNAME\Data
But the data folder is still empty although my libraries are full of documents and I also created/changed files.
One thing I should mention is that I have moved the entire C:\Users Profile Directory to another drive in my case D:\Users with setting up a directory junction with the command:
mklink /j C:\Users D:\Users
So Windows should still believe that all the profile documents still reside in C:\

copying user profiles - a tip and a question (long, sorry)
location:
winsecrets.com - date:

Have seen many posts in various forums about people having problems with user profiles in Windows 7, largely because Microsoft disabled the ability to copy one user profile to another. Of course I was looking because I had a problem.
The tips I've seen don't seem to work. Example: I've seen advice to copy all the files except ntuser*.* from one user's profile to another, sometimes with extras like 1: log on the each user at least once, then log on as user C to copy from A to B, and 2: make sure you are set to view hidden files and protected system files. I used to do this back in the days of NT 4.0 (or was it 2000?), but under Win-7, the resulting users seem to be corrupt somehow (sorry, its been a while and I forget exactly what w
