Can't type anything in the "search the web and windows" bar at the bottom. Also used to be able to click on start and type the name of the application to run it Windows would find it - this is not working either. Nothing happens when you type.
Anyone else having this issue?

How to make the Google search bar longer? (IE 7 beta 2)
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
May 13, 2006
If you select the Google search bar, it only gets a small amount of space at the end of the address bar line.
I can't find a way to make it wider, and thus shorten the address box.
Can anyone?
John
PS Of course we have the usuaol new software: "where on earth have they hidden <this feature> this time round?" to contend with, yet again...

I upgraded both my laptop and my girlfriends from win 7 home premium to windows 8 pro on Saturday. Although mine has worked perfectly I can't find the IE10 metro app on hers. It was never on the home screen after the upgrade and I can't find it when searching for apps on the home screen or in the windows store. IE10 is definitely installed, it works through the desktop but I cant get the metro app anywhere. Does anyone have any ideas?

Bing Bar & Google Search Box
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
June 26, 2012
When I open the 64 bit version of IE9 at my home page, http://uk.msn.com,the Bing Bar is shown, and I would appreciate advice as to how to get rid of it.(I have deleted every reference I could find to Bing in regedit, but it made no difference). Also, the Google Search box appears on the right of the screen, and it is very small, whereas in the 32 bit version of IE9 it is on the left of the screen and is larger, and I much prefer that configuration. How can I make the Google Search box larger and move it to the left of the screen in the 64 bit version?
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks and regards,
Roy

Internet Search from address bar in IE
location:
8forums.com - date:

Until today I could search with Google from my address bar. I was prompted to download crawler.com and sadly accepted- next thing I knew, when I was trying to search from my address bar it searched through crawler.com- I didn't like it so I uninstalled it and requested the program to reset my preferences, I restarted and now there's no way I can search from my address bar. At first an error prompt would come up.
In Internet Explorer I went to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and cliked on Reset... Nothing...
In my Control Panel I went to Internet Properties/Advanced/Search from Address Bar and selected Just display the results in the main window... Nothing
In my Control Panel I went to Internet Properties/Search Settings, selec
