VMware Player - a Windows 8 Demo
location:

You may have considered to run an OS (e.g., Windows 8) in virtual but were not sure how that would really work. I will show you in this video how Windows 8 can be operated in a VMware Player virtual system. For installation of Windows 8 in VMware Player, refer to this excellent tutorial from Shawn. This will allow you to install Windows 8 virtual within your current system. It creates a VMware folder in Documents (default). You can move or copy this VMware folder to another partition or disk drive any time. You just have to redefine the path to the .vmx file (see tutorial below). You can also copy that folder at any time for backup purposes. That would be equivalent to an image, but is more convenient. I went one step further and copied t

Windows 8 blu ray player FREE
location:
8forums.com - date:

Ok there has got to be some solution for a free windows 8 blu ray player. I tried to do the VLC solution but it crashes as soon as I try playing an encrypted disk.
I refuse to pay a dime to cyberlink since I just bought this bluray player and their OEM version will not support windows 8. Which is complete cramp because this like other programs are forcing you to buy a new software right off.
Anyone have any suggestions on this? And I know how to make mkv's and I do when needed, but this is for my HTPC that I want to have an easy plug and play solution for when someone other then me wants to use it.

Media player opens but audio or video file won’t play
location:

For the past several months, I've been having problems getting audio and video files to start playing, i.e. WMV, MP3, FLAC, MPEG, WAV, AVI, etc. The issue isn't isolated to Windows Media Player, although that is the player I use most often.
Here's what happens: 1) I Navigate to my media files via Windows Explorer. 2) Double click the file or select multiple files and right click "Play in Windows Media Player". 3) WMP will open but that is it. The blue circle will spin forever and the audio or video will never play.
My temporary solution: 1) Reboot the computer OR 1) Force close WMP by clicking the "X" to close the program. 2) Go into Task Manager and kill the app even thoug

Windows Media Player, MPEG video, and Windows 8, 64-bit
location:

I'm in the process of importing video from by digital video camera, and all the files are in mpeg format. The audio plays in windows media player, but no video. I installed the latest version of WMM, that won't play them. I installed the latest quicktime, no dice. I installed instacodec, no dice, but I'm not sure what I was supposed to do with it once it was installed. I'm using Windows 8, 64-bit, which I regret often. Anyone out there have tip or trick that I can use to get these suckers to play correctly? It looks like the system sees them as audio files. Thanks in advance!
