Media Streaming - Unknown Device - Windows 8
location:
microsoft.com - date:
February 10, 2013
My main computer is setup to dual boot Windows 7 and Windows 8 so the hardware in the two OS's is identical. Windows Media Streaming works perfectly in Windows7 but not in Windows 8. My PC is hard wired to an SMCWBR14S-N4 router and the TV is connected
wireless.
My Homegroup in Windows 7 shows a device (my TV) as: TOSHIBA LCDTV (Allowed access using default settings).
My Homegroup in Windows 8 shows a device as: Unknown Device (Allowed access using default settings).
I know the Unknown Device is my TV because its IP address and Mac address match those that the TV settings displays.
I have tried removing the Unknown Device but when I reboot it comes back as Unknown Device.

Problems streaming music online Windows 8
location:
microsoft.com - date:
April 17, 2013
I just got a new computer at work a few weeks ago. When I try to stream music from websites, it will play for awhile, and then start glitching. It skips, slows down, sounds a little 'alien'. Restarting fixes it for a little while. I've tried updating through
windows, using Chrome, IE, Firefox, and everything else I can think of. I'm running Windows 8 64 bit.

Recently upgraded to windows 8 pro.....have to instul media pack.....product key for 8 does not work. Do I need a separate product key for media and is media free to recent windows 8 pro upgrades?

Microsoft does not make this easy, helpful or right. I upgraded to windows 8 Pro in Jan 2013, with the help of MS tech support. Did not know that Windows Media was not included. Very helpful but at that time I had all rights to a FREE Media installation
while he was on my computer.
My product key for 8 pro is not recognized and I need to know if media would be a separate product key. Do I have to purchase a product key and will I have to purchase the media pack?

Trying to add Windows 8 Media Center to my Windows 8 Pro edition.
location:
microsoft.com - date:
January 31, 2013
Got the product key emailed to me. Then when I try to Add features, it validates the key and stops with this message "couldn't create a restore point". Microsoft support could not help
"Couldn't create the restore point. Stop this wizard and try again". Tried this several times to no avail.
Is there a way t download the Windows 8 Media Center Pro Pack and then apply the product code that was mailed by Microsoft?

Applying Windows 8 Media Center to existing Windows 8 pro install you get to reactivate Windows 8 again!

Okay, maybe I'm missing something here. I've purchased 8 Windows Upgrades and I only asked (and received) 3 Media Center Activation Keys. So today I get an e-mail saying "activate your Media Center by January 31" or I'll turn into a pumpkin.
