Unidentified Network; No Network Access; Limited Access

I have a Dell Inspiron 1750 with Windows Home Premium x64. This problem began occurring on Thursday after my brother put his hard drive from his laptop which runs Vista, into my laptop. I figured it was a stupid idea, but he stayed home and I went to school that day. (His CMOS battery needs to be replaced)
So whenever I try to connect wirelessly to my home network, my laptop considers it a public network and I have limited connectivity, which is pretty much no connectivity. Although when I connect the ethernet cord directly to my laptop, everything works fine. Not sure if that helped so let me know if you all need anything else. Here is my ipconfig/all, which is quite long.
Just so you know, I've already tried adding things to the

"no network access" when connected to VPN
location:

Hi there,
I travel internationally for work and often need to be conferenced in for long phone meetings. To use my US Google Voice number, I have had a VPN up and running on my Windows 8 computer to dial US phone numbers from my Gmail/Google Voice. Yesterday, I set up the same VPN connection for my wife who uses Windows 7. The set up is exactly the same but computer's behavior seems to be different. Win 7 machine loses any internet connectivity after connected to VPN. Then, when the 'use default gateway on remote network' for the VPN connection is unchecked, Internet works, VPN connection appears to be established BUT it shows as 'no network access' and Google Voice won't dial (it only works if it renders your IP as being in US).

Okay, so...
A couple days ago, I tried connecting my laptop to the router through a wired connection, but I was unable to. The connection is displayed as "Unidentified network No network access". I've tried numerous solutions, but none of them have worked. It's all really confusing and I would appreciate assistance in the matter. Thanks.

VPN connects, no network access

I've set up the client to connect to the PPTP VPN at my workplace. It connects, but I can't access any computers on the network through explorer or remote desktop, by IP address or by name. Also, the internet will not connect after connecting to the VPN [we have a proxy, and the browser won't connect to it].
On the VPN status, the IPv4 Connectivity is listed as Internet
the IPv6 is listed as No Network Access.
I can, in a command prompt, ping network computers by name or IP. ipconfig /all gives, from what I can see, identical results to a Vista computer that connects properly.
This occurs from my house [set up as a Home network] and from public networks. The VPN is set up as a Work network. I've tried changing these and it doesn't seem t
