How do I download the 64-bit version of Windows 8 with the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant?
location:

Hi all,
My PC run Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I've purchased my product key and run the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant (on my PC (the one I want to install Windows 8 on (which is 64-bit))) and it downloads Windows 8, only to say,
"Use the other installation disc that says 64-bit. When you insert it, Windows Setup will restart automatically."
I delete all the temporary files (everything in C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WebSetup and everything in the C:\ESD folder), go back to my order and redownload the Upgrade Assistant and go through the whole rigmarole again, only for it to come
up with the same error, "Use the other installation disc that says 64-bit. When you insert it, Windows Setup will restart automatically."

How to (re)associate audio/video files with Windows Media Player 12?
location:
7forums.com - date:
February 6, 2012
Hi,
After unsolvable problems with VLC player (constant crash reports) I want to move back to Windows Media Player as my standard program to play audio & video files. But whatever I click and do, I cannot find a way to (re)associate the 'VLC'-files to WMP12.
If I rightclick a 'VLC'-file in a folder, I can select 'open with' and then select WMP. But only for one instance! If i want to make WMP the default opener, I get this error message: 'This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the default programs control panel' - Strange message, because this file HAS a default program already, I just want to change it!

Basic Windows 8 User Interface Issues - figuring out how to shut down computer. Anyone else experience this?
location:

Hello! I have been so frustrated by my Windows 8 experience (I had high hopes!) that I feel compelled to write a lot of feedback somewhere in the crazy hope that maybe someone from Microsoft will someday see it and improve their product. Did anyone else
experience the below initial challenge of figuring out how to shut-down, or the secondary challenge of the right-hand charm bar disappearing permanently after a simple "touch screen calibration" run from the Control Panel?
Task: Shut Down Computer
So first I wanted to figure out how to shut down my computer. I hunted around, and of course with no Start menu in the old-fashioned screen, that option do shut-down from the start menu did not exist. Hunting within the home screen tile int

location:
8forums.com - date:
June 27, 2012
Hello, I am looking for installing IE 6 because I want to test my created sites as IE 6 displays errors about site scripts.
I'm using Windows 8, IE 10 comes built in with it. So when I tried to install IE 6, it detect that there is a latest version of IE already installed, so it discontinued.
I want to know is there any way to uninstall IE 10, so that I can install IE 6.
I didn't found a way to uninstall from Control Panel, as it comes built in with OS.
Any help would be appreciated.
