Will Windows 7 Debug/Checked Build key work with normal Windows 7
location:
7forums.com - date:
October 4, 2012
I downloaded the Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1 Debug/Checked Build from the MSDNAA, and I want to go to the regular version of Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1. Would I be able to download the normal Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1 from, say, Digital River, and use the same key that I got with the Debug/Checked Build?
Thanks in advance

How/where to check whether hardware is compatible with 64-bit windows?
location:
7forums.com - date:

How/where can I run a diagnostics test to check whether a particular hardware is compatible with 64-bit windows?
How/where can test to check whether it driver is compatible with 64-bit windows as well?
Edit: It's called Upgrade Advisor.... Will it work if I'm already on Windows 7? I don't have Vista or XP.
The inclination is actually more towards external hardware, like card readers, external hard drives, etc, rather than internal hardware like the motherboard, cpu, ram, etc.
Will Windows 7 upgrade advisor be applicable for external hardware devices?

closing windows with Alt + F4 puts focus on Taskbar -- how do I fix?
location:
7forums.com - date:

a big frustration I'm having with Windows 7 is my inability to close a lot of open windows using a keyboard shortcut. In Mac and Ubuntu, I can just repeatedly tap Ctrl + Q (Command + Q in Mac) to close one window after another quickly (eg, before shutting down). But in Windows 7 I'm often presented with the situation where tapping Alt + F4 the first time will close the window but tapping it a second time will prompt to shutdown the system (ie, after closing the first window the focus went onto the taskbar). It prevents me from being able to repeatedly tap Alt + F4 to close multiple windows. Instead i have to stop and put focus back onto one of the remaining windows i still want to close before being able to use Alt + F4 again -- a major PIT

Any ideas on how to replace Segoe UI 9pt with Tahoma 8?
location:
7forums.com - date:
December 12, 2009
I'm not a fan of ClearType, it might work for some people/monitors, but not me and Windows 7's default font Segoe UI looks horrible without ClearType (and with it too actually). After changing all fonts to Tahoma 8 thru Personalize -> Window Color -> Advanced Appearance Settings, or even switching to Windows Classic theme Segoe UI still remains in a lot of places as the default system font, so I went into the registry and manually changed it to Tahoma, by doing this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts]
"Segoe UI (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Bold (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Italic (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Bold Italic (TrueType)"=&qu

How do you want your music?
location:
8forums.com - date:

Hey All,
No one seems to believe that Music for Metro is a serious app, and given both it's excesses (advertising) and limitations (ability to toggle your collection effectively) I'd like to know what YOU want from your music player.
What do you hate/love about Music for Metro?
What music player do you use instead?
What has your favorite feature in a music player been?
What's your least favorite?
Me? I'd really like basic music player toggles accessible in the charms bar, either under a music charm or under the settings charm -- I want album art, artist, album, and song name, pause/play, forward/back, shuffle, and repeat, oh, and volume and mute (accessible under settings), without having to swap apps or snap Music in the si
