Windows 8 can't detect my graphics card (Nvidia Ge-Force 555M)
location:
microsoft.com - date:

I have a Lenovo B520 desktop PC and recently upgraded to Windows 8, Since my upgrade I have lost the ability to use my dedicated graphics chip (an Nvidia Ge-force 555M), Upon trying to install drivers for this device the Nvidia installer said it could
not find any compatible hardware (Windows 8 had not recognised the graphics card). If anyone else is having the same issue or anyone knows how to fix it then you would be of great help,
Thanks,

Video card not recognized since this morning's windows 8 update
location:

I installed around 8 components in this morning's windows update, which included a graphics adapter WDDM1.1 and 1.2 for my specific video card. Games won't launch and DVD playback has the audio and video out of sync. Attempting to update the video drivers,
and the manufacturers nVidia installer say's that it cannot detect that I have an nVidia video card installed! Exact error message: This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware.
I've cleared the windows update cache and redownloaded the graphics adapter a couple of times. Each time, after "successful install" no joy, AND when I rescan windows update the same graphics adapter comes up as an important update. Because

Hi, I hope you guys can help. I am running a Dell XPS M170, and have recently upgraded to Windows 8 Pro from XP SP3. Since updating, I have been unable to use higher screen resolutions or an external monitor, and have discovered that the Device Manager
lists my Display Adapter as 'Microsoft Basic Display Adapter'. Upon trying to update the adapter, I have been told that it is already fully up to date.

I have an Nvidia 7300SE/7200GS graphics in my 32bit windowsXP which I need to install 306.97 upgrade to for window 8 64 on another board. It won't install in windows XP. My new board is an asus M5A97 which does not have built in video. It is a HEFI system, so video card works when set to BIOS, but gos blank when I switch to HEFI install. Is there a command in win 8 that will install a video card update from a USB drive during or before install. If not, could I upgrade on a friends win 7 computer and then use in my system? I don' know if 306.97 installs to GPU or motherboard CPU. I was hoping I could go to troubleshoot, command prompt, then find a command to install update. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks for any help

Windows 8 crash solved (video card)

I downloaded Windows 8 Pro and used the included installer to attempt an upgrade from Windows 7 64 bit on a dual core HP computer with 4G of RAM. Everything went smoothly to the 100% point. During the automatic restarts I first noticed a problem when the words on the welcome screen appeared garbled. Then the system crashed and automatically reverted to Windows 7. After 3 installation attempts I called MS and talked to the Philippines for about two hours before being disconnected. Then I talked to India for another two hours. Both agents were courteous. After 3 more installation attempts Windows 8 finally loaded, but the screen was still garbled. Updating the video card driver appeared to solve the garbled problem, but then the syst

I recently upgraded MSI GT70 gaming laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 8. Everything worked flawlessly with Win 7. I tried to run games like CoD Black Ops 2 and Battlefield after upgrading and I needed to update the drivers. I installed version 306.97 with no problems and restarted. After installing the new update I cannot use my GTX675M card. It will show up in device manager but no programs or games will use it. I have tried setting as the default for certain programs but it still will not run. I can only use my on board Intel HD graphics. I have tried disabling the Intel graphics and enabling only the GTX but still nothing. I have tried uninstalling everything that has to do with Nvidia on my PC and doing a fresh install of everyt

Hello, I have an HP H8-1409 that I have upgraded extensively - upgraded 10GB 1333 memory to 16GB 1600 memory, OEM Hitachi boat anchor HDD with Kingston 240GB SSD and WD Caviar Black 1TB Storage drive, the OEM 460W power supply to a Corsair 650W modular, and the video card from the OEM HD7570 to an HD7870.
I would like to share my resolution of the video card upgrade.
I initially tried to upgrade to a GTX 660 but the screen just went black. The card tested out ok at the shop but I still exchanged it for the HD7870. That one booted up but the POST gave 6 beeps on boot up which indicated hardware failure. Returned the card which tested ok at the shop for a new card that also pre-tested ok at the shop. Same 6 beeps on start-up, afte
