how to repair files sfc cannot fix

I cannot get Internet Explorer 10 to launch anymore from my desktop, the Metro app launches fine but the desktop no longer does. How do I fix this?

I recently got a new computer with Windows 8. I was able to toggle back and forth just fine between Internet Explorer 10 on my desktop and the Metro App. until a few days ago.  I can no longer launch Internet Explorer from my desktop.  This happened several days ago.  Why did this happen and how do I fix this problem?

Windows 8 automatic repair looping, this IS how to fix it!!

Well I know for sure whats happened to everyones computers, one word though DO NOT WIPE YOUR HARD DISKS THINKING YOU'VE LOST YOUR FILES!!!!!!!!!!! What happened for some reason to me anyway! Is I installed Windows 8 onto 1 of my hard drives, it worked fine for a couple of days THEN did what has been happening to everyone else! Endless cycle of automatic repair! Nothing happened, it couldn't 'fix' the 'problem' the reason for that is because Windows 8 had locked the hard drive down to such an extent the automatic repair option itself COULDN'T fix the problems, and never would have been able to because it also couldn't see the very drive it was attempting to fix!! So it would have always been stuck in the endless loop with no solution!

I downloaded the Windows 8 Preview and now I can no longer access my "old.windows" files or programs. How do I fix this?

My desktop is completely blank with the exception of the recycle bin. None of my previous apps are pinned to the taskbar. I see a folder that says "old.windows" but can no longer do anything with it. I use the Zune Software client a lot but now I can no longer use it. HELP!!!

sfc /scannow cannot repair explorer.exe

Hi everyone, I am having problems using sfc /scannow in my elevated command prompt, as it reported that errors are found but cannot be fixed, in my CBS.log. I searched "cannot repair" in my CBS.log, and it reported error with my explorer.exe. I edited it before when using custom theme (Shine 2.0). I am using Windows 7 64-bit SP1, can anyone help me? Does anyone have a fix, or a backup of the explorer.exe? Thanks!!!

Sfc /Scannow found corrupt files, but was unable to fix them.

CBS.log Here is the .log file produced. If it is of any relevance, ive recently had issues with my Nvidia drivers (GTX 560-TI) which i have sorted out finally. What even began this was i was receiving a Streamci.dll error ever since the driver went out on me, but i have yet to run into that now that i have it properly reinstalled.

How to fix Boot\BCD files.

I did a factory restore and and used my flashdriver backup for recovery. When it loaded the DELL logo screen it didn't go to windows page it went to Black screen with message Cannot start windows. Reinstall with disk. Error (0x8007002). Cannot find \BOOT\BCD. Tried to restart and did exact same thing so used flash driver to get back to options page and tried all the options. The only option that works start the WHOLE COMPUTER FROM THE VERY BEGINNING(agreement to use dell and windows) I loose every thing and have to set up each time. I read something about rebuilding the BOOT\BCD files does any one know how to do that or any other fixes. Thanks in advance! K.B.S

My HP Pavilion with Windows Vista will not accept my password. It gives the message, "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded." I only have one profile on the computer so I can only access it through safe mode. I tried the Startup Repair idea that I reaad about online, but when I clicked on restart and held down the f8 key it took me back to enter password rather than the Advanced boot Options. Needless to say, my password still would not work there. What can I do to fix this problem?  The internet Explorer and Mozilla Fox logos show on the desktop in safe mode, but will not connect to the internet; therefore, I am using another computer to post to the forum.
