How to Downgrade Windows 8?
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
January 24, 2013
There is a thread on this forum about downgrading Win8 to Win 7 where everyone is venting about the pros and cons of each version. I am not interesting in debating, I am just interested in obtaining input on how to downgrade. I just purchased a new Samsung Series 9 notebook with Win8 and spent several days trying to get adjusted to it. I am sure with enough time and energy I would eventually figure it out but I have decided to downgrade to Win7 so I will not take the productivity hit at this time. The computer has Win8 Home Premium which cannot be legally downgraded but I have a full legal license to Win7 Pro that I purchased for the now deceased computer that this one is replacing so I have the legal right to install it here.

How to easily remove Right Click > New items in Windows 8
location:
8forums.com - date:
January 23, 2013
I've used TweakUI since Windows 9x to easily remove Right Click New items, for example, all MS Office entries pictured below.
TweakUI 64-Bit does not work on Windows 8 and so-called Tweak software like Ultimate Windows Tweaker lack this feature. Programs such as ShellMenuView do not clearly display Right Click New items so you can easily disable them. They display general right click items - not Right Click > New items.
I have spent the entire morning and found only 1 (one) program that clearly displays Right Click New Items to be disabled but it is $30 (Windows 8 Manager) and I have no need for its other features, just to quickly and easily remove Right Click > New items so $30 is steep for that.
Does anyone know

How to get windows 8 onto new SSD?
location:
8forums.com - date:
March 26, 2013
Hi, I just bought an Asus UX32VD with Windows 8 (64 bit)
I bought a new SSD to install, but am having trouble figuring out how to get windows onto it. I tried creating the recovery disk on USB but that didn't work.
I've read through a bunch of these forums, lots of info out there but I'm confused what I need to do.
How can I copy windows, swap drives, then put windows on the new SSD? Can I use USB? I do not have a dvd drive.
Is there a step by step instruction somewhere?
Also note, the new SSD is smaller than the OEM supplied HDD.
Thanks in advance!
Brad

How do I create windows 7 boot drive in windows 8
location:
7forums.com - date:
January 28, 2013
Hi,
I have just bought a new laptop for my wife and it has windows 8 on it. It has no optical drive and she would prefer to use windows 7.
I have a windows 7 dvd but this isn't much use for me here! So far, I have got an extracted windows 7 .iso file on the desktop but not sure what to do with this next.
I am aware I can't just drag the .iso file onto the flash drive and then boot the laptop from usb, there seems to be more to it than that. It would probably just ignore it and not boot from it.
What I have here is a Windows 8 laptop and one with Ubuntu on it with which to work with. This new one will be arriving within the next few days.
Any help is very much appreciated, thanks.
Sam.
