How to view all pages as thumbnails like Windows Icons?
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
May 14, 2012
In Explorer there is a convenient way to view a lot of picture files with a small thumbnail for each one.
In Word 2003 all we have is a single column down the left, the Thumbnail view.
Is there a way to get a view of all the pages of the document at once on the same screen?

recently paid $149 to download upgrade to windows 8. I only did this after running a program which was meant to check if my pc was ok to upgrade. this obviously only checks the system requirements and fails to check the fact that i have a FRAUD copy of
windows xp on my machine that was sold to me.. after contacting microsoft on the issue i was told that I must first go purchase windows 7 legit copy and then try again to run the install upgrade of windows 8.. so wait i have to buy another windows so i
can use the windows i just bought? ok fair enough i understand i was ripped off regarding the dodgy copy of xp.. but i really beleive that this so called windows 8 upgrade checker should check the authenticity of people o

“Video Error: Files needed to display video are not installed or not working correctly. Please restart Media Center and or restart the computer“
Background – I have a new MSI motherboard with integrated Intel HD 4000 hdmi graphics and Windows 8 Pro with Windows Media Center. When I had the hdmi connected to a Toshiba flat panel and used the tv out optical spdif output
to my Denon receiver it worked fine except I only got stereo output from recorded tv files. I then connected the hdmi cable directly to the Denon receiver and got the above error plus the audio would loop and the video would freeze. When I tried to set up
Media Center in 5.1 the test sound would stick on the first speaker and loop. The same thing would happen wi

Pictures do not display as thumbnail preview
location:
microsoft.com - date:
February 3, 2010
In Windows 7, I can't get pictures to show as thumbnail previews. I've tried three different methods suggested on this site. Why is this so difficult?__
The three methods I've tried are as follows:
1. Open the folder in Windows Explorer and click the
down arrow next to Views at the top. Choose
Medium icons and see if the thumbnails start working again.
2. If not, click on Organize, then
Folder and Search Options. Click the View tab. Make sure that "Always show icons, never thumbnails"
does not have a check mark next to it.
3. Open Control Panel. (Classic View). Click on the System icon. Click on the advanced system settings link. Under Performance, click on the

On USB hard drives, when files are permanently deleted, not as much space is recovered as expected
location:
microsoft.com - date:

Using Windows XP Home Edition SP 3. I have several USB hard drives formatted in NTFS which are just used for data storage (no OS stuff other than copies of the files on the C (OS) drive). I find that often when I permanenty delete folders (shift and delete),
not as much space is recovered as expected. For example, I have a 1 TB disk (931 GB total size). When I look at all the folders (I highlighted each folder in turn, right click, properties), I come up with 769 GB total. I should have about 931-769=162GB free.
Instead, I only see 104 GB - a difference of 58GB, not small potatoes.
I selected "Show hidden files and folders" and Deselected "Hide protected Operating system files". I checked the recyle bin and see no files or
