Windows 8: Cannot boot into safe mode; tried everything
location:

My current setup is a dual boot with Windows 8 Pro 64-bit and Ubuntu 12.04.
-> I've tried F8 and Shift + F8 before the Windows 8 splash screen, neihter works.
-> I've tried the advanced startup method where I restart and eventually select Startup Settings, but when it restarts it just boots normally. I don't get to see the Startup Settings menu.
-> In the System Configuration menu on the Boot tab I have selected safe boot - minimal but when I restart it just boots normally.
-> I've added Safe Mode to the Windows Boot Manager but I guess I'm not able to see it since I use GRUB?
What else can I do?

Windows 8 on older PC...need to boot into Safe Mode

Hello everyone, my first post here.
To make a long story short, a USB video adapter that I was using with Windows 7 stopped working with Win 8, because the drivers are no longer compatible with the latest drivers for my older Nvidia graphics card (7900GS). So the manufacturer suggests on their website to try installing an older Nvidia driver thats still compatible with Win 8.
To make a long story short, the driver installed, the screen went black and stayed black from that point on. Panicked, I powered off the PC and thinking I could just get into Safe Mode and uninstall the driver, rebooted. Lo and behold I get a Boot Disk Failure error. So I then used the Win 8 install DVD to get to repair options, but the Automatic Repair d

Stuck halfway through loading windows, cannot boot into safe mode

As said above, my Dell Studio 1555 laptop will not boot either into regular windows or safe mode.
When booting into safe mode, the very last file that will load is "CLASSPNP.SYS"
When that happens it will stay stuck loading the next file for a few minutes, then restart itself into the Windows Error Recovery screen.
When I try startup repair, it goes to a blank black screen and repeats the procedure above (ie. it gets stuck and restarts a few minutes later)
When I hard-shut down by pressing the power button, a BSoD appears for a fraction of a second right before it dies.
What could the problem be, and what can I do to fix it? I have the windows 7 install disk, if needed. Should I go ahead and try an installation repa

Can't boot into safe mode

If I hit the f8 key while booting, my motherboard (Asus M4a78-EM) brings up a boot device menu. In msconfig all the safe mode boot options are not available and there is no OS listed in the box. I'm on Windows 7 Home premium. I haven't activated it yet, if that makes a difference. Any ideas?

Boot into Safe Mode When You Have 2 Partitions (Windows XP & Windows 7
location:

December 4, 2012
Hi everyone,
I have a quick question. I have 3 partitions on my hard drive. First partition is for Windows XP and the second is Windows 7 and the third is for data.
My question is how does having 2 partitions impact booting into safe mode? I assume that both XP and Windows 7 have their own safe mode?
I am asking because I need to get into windows 7 safe mode in order to install a piece of software.

After I updated to Windows 7 I tried to boot into safe mode to uninstall a program that was troublesome. The computer loads drivers, stopping at classpnp.sys and the log on screen appears. At this point the computer instantly reboots into normal start
up. How can I fix this, if I ever need safe mode I will have a real issue.
