hi there....i am trying to connect my xbox 360 as an extender. i get all the way through the setup and it fails at the last step. i have gone into my firewall and the media extender is ticked to allow. i have also manually set up rules to allow all the ports i found on the microsoft site to be allowed. lastly, i tried the microsoft fix it tool on the microsoft support site. i have run out of ideas. the xbox is definitely on the same network as me, it can see my laptop and also my iomega iconnect when i go into setting and network connections. it tests positively when i test the network connection, but fails when i test the media centre connection.
i have gone through the setup 3 times now (i.e. reset the connection and put in anot

Networking Issue, Xbox 360 to Windows 7 Laptop

Problem: My laptop will not connect to my xbox 360 via ethernet.
I ran into a problem while trying to set up my xbox as a testing ground for xna development. While my xbox used to connect to xbox live via my old XP desktop, it refuses to even acknowledge my laptop with Windows 7. I've tried a variety of fixes including clearing
the network settings of the xbox and laptop, reinstalling the drivers for the network card, and copying the network settings from my desktop to the laptop. I currently have single network cable running from my xbox to laptop. No I do not have a wireless connection
at my house. I do however have a hub, but I know that xbox NICs are capable of switching so I don't see what difference that would make. Any ideas? T

Windows 7 laptop won't detect my Xbox 360

I just recently purchased my console used. My laptop ran Windows 8 Consumer preview. Although I didn't have the option of Media Center, my Xbox could detect and stream my music, videos and pictures from my PC. I recently reverted back to Windows 7because
the Windows 8 license was set to expire on 15 January. Now, for some unknown reason, my Xbox can't detect my PC, nor can my PC detect my Xbox as an extender in Media center. I've tried everything I could think of and instructions I've found on the Xbox website
to no avail. Before I posted this, I also tried things left to people with similar problems in answers in this forum. I've tried manually assigning both my Xbox and PC's IP addresses, disabling both my Windows and router firewalls

Has this come up before?
I have a Xbox360 connected to my laptop via cable, then connect to Xbox Live wireless though a Linksys router (G 2.4 ghz).
Everything works fine with my +6 year old laptop running XP home, but there is a little lag with one game.
So I bought a new Asus laptop that came with Windows 7 operating system. I tried to connect to Xbox Live the same way as I did with my old laptop, but it will not connect.
The lap has a good wireless connection to the internet. (same connection as the old laptop).
I have enabled sharing in the network options.
Reconfigured the xbox 360s IP address manually, automatically, and restored the factory setting, Still no connection.
Manually changed addressing on the laptop. Still no c
