Windows 7 or XP for gaming? Plus help.

I have a bit of a dilemma here. I'm trying to decide whether or not to pick Windows 7 or XP for some gaming. Other things like browsing and multimedia too, of course, but mostly gaming.

P4 3.1ghz (hyperthreading, dunno if that matters much.)
2 gigs of DDR3 RAM.
ATI Radeon x1650 Pro with 512mb RAM.
Quite frankly, I've never had a PC capable of playing any games >2003, so the idea of being able to play some good games is very enjoyable. What newer games could this machine run with a decent framerate? (High or low settings doesn't matter) Which OS should I choose for best performance? (note: if I run Windows 7, I'd of course be using the classic theme while I play. I'd a

January 10, 2009
This might have been covered earlier, but I guess a fresh post would be in order as many of you have recently acquired a beta product key and the latest ISO image of Windows 7. This guide is good if you want to install to a netbook or laptop that doesn't have a CD-ROM or if you'd like to get a speedier install on your desktop PC See also: USB Windows 7 Installation Key Drive - Create
1. Download the latest ISO image of Windows 7
2. Use MagicISO or any other SW that can read and extract the contents of the ISO.
3. Extract all the files to a folder of your choice ( ex. C:\Windows 7). If you use MagicISO you'd want to right click on the ISO file and then select "Extract to..."
4. attach a USB stick of at least 4 GB size
5. Select

How to Install Windows 7 Ultimate on a laptop with Windows Home Basic
location:

Please help, My friend Wants to Buy Windows 7 Ultimate but first wants to try the 30-day trial version. He's using an HP laptop with Windows Home Basic 64-bit OS. He is wondering how to do this so in turn I am asking you guys out here right now. Does it need a clean install? He already downloaded a retail dvd for the Windows 7 Ultimate OS ISO. Also one of his concerns is that there is an image backup of his OS with the system factory settings, we're both wondering if it would still be accessible (it's on a different hdd partition) once he successfully installs the Ultimate OS.
He's doing this at first, and then he's planning to try out Windows 7 Professional next and then decide which to Buy to replace his original OS.
We'd reall

How to reinstall windows 7 without the disc?
location:

I want to install Windows 8 on my computer without dual booting windows 7. However, how would I reinstall windows 7? no windows disc was given when I bought the computer.
Which one do i create in order to reinstall windows 7 in the future? system image or system repair disc?
I already created a factory default disc and a drivers and apps disc using Acer's program. However, I do not know if I can actually reinstall windows 7 once I fully wipe the HDD and install windows 8.
