Can manual cleaning of my (XP SP3) registry speed up my computer?

I have a lot of references to programs I have removed, and keys with no value(end keys). I use C-Cleaner but the registry still shows a lot of program references and paths to nowhere. I've seen a lot of information on the "auto" cleaners out there
and I don't think any are recommended. I'd be too apprehensive to let one loose in my registry other than C-Cleaner which I do use. I've always used proper procedure to remove programs, and then looked for and deleted references to those removed programs
where I found them. I still see registry references to those programs. I regularly clean up the disk space and defrag, and I have good AV software and even use the safety scanner periodically (have clean bill of

Will more memory help speed up this PC?

Hey all,
I have a desktop computer that has:
Windows XP Home
Intel 2.2 ghz core duo processor
Nvidea graphics card
2 gig RAM
SSD operating system/programs drive (50% full)
7200 rpm data drive (25% full)
I just purchased a new Dell Inspiron laptop that has:
Windows 8
Intel 2.2 ghz quad core
AMD Radeon graphics
8 gig of RAM
5400 rpm hard drive (10% full)
Those are the specs. Here is the question:
I ran the same 3D CNC toolpathing program file on both machines. It took 8 seconds to process on the 2.2 ghz core duo desktop and 4 seconds to run on the new Dell 2.2 ghz quad core laptop.
I had been planning on adding 2 gig more RAM to the desktop PC. However since it already has the SSD hard drive I'm wondering if any excess RAM requirement

How do I set up my Verizon email?

Trying out Windows 8 CP but not feeling the love.
I only see Google, Exchange, & Yahoo as email possibilities. If I can't set up my Verizon account, I would NEVER use Windows 8.
Am I missing something?

How can I tell if my Win 7 is 64 or 32 bit?

I have a 64 bit machine. I thought my Win 7 Pro was 64 bit. I had some crazy software issues, and finally someone told me my problem was I was trying to run a 64 bit app on 32 bit Windows. I showed him my Computer properties screen, which said I have a 64 bit System. He saw something on that same screen and said I do NOT have 64-bit Windows installed. I downloaded and used the 32 bit software, and it ran just fine. It looks as if he was right and I do not have 64 bit Windows.
This MS Link says that I can tell by looking at System in Computer Properties. Well, it says 64 bit. I am confused. 32-bit and 64-bit Windows: frequently asked questions
FYI, I had a crash, and so I am not running my original Windows instal

How can I tell if my new laptop has Windows 8 Pro

I purchased two Dell systems. One was the M6700 which I knew had Windows 8 Pro on it and I installed the Media Center with the product key sent to me from Microsoft. I returned the system due to MAJOR and costly Pro Tech support. After 26 days they refused
to fix the screen the would dim every 3 minutes, saying "if there wasn't a yellow bang in the device manager it wasn't their problem. On the last day I accidently found a Dell program that controlled the graphic setting called Dell Premier Color. I decided
to return the workstation even though it was a great system. I just did not want to look forward to 3 years of $350 worth of useless and frustrating tech support.
