Happy, Impressed New Win8 End Users

I live in Calgary but, help clients who may be in other cities, Provinces or Countries.
Recently, I have worked remotely, using RA, w/ several clients who were newly installing Windows 8 (before the promo ends). In each case I have given them the Applications window and Desktop Toolbar.
W/out exception, they all are excited to use it w/ those things, very happy w/ Windows 8, impressed w/ it for Features, technology and ease of use. Though familiar w/ 7 & XP and from 40 to 75 years old, they did not find it hard to now understand or enjoy Windows 8.
Even, they heard negative things said or written about the OS yet, after I gave them the above 'tips' & showed them a couple of basics, they like Win8 & don't see why the

My "Users" setting dissappeared from the new win8 setting screen. Also I can't change any UAC settings. Can't copy/paste files to OS Drive.
location:

Since some time, I noticed that I couldn't copy/paste files to C: (OS Drive) anymore. I thought it was some security issue. Went into Secure Mode and it worked there. Later when a program on C: ran an update it didn't install. I checked it and again it was
like it simply didn't update in the first place. I thought maybe it is an issue with UAC. Went into those options. Pressed "Chance User Account Control Settings" but nothing happened(literally, nothing, no reaction). I simply can't do anything. Can't manage
an other account and can't change account type. If I press "Make changes to my account in PC settings" it takes me into the new windows 8 settings but it just says "Page not found / outdated link". I checked and found no

New Win8 laptop arriving, wish to Dual Boot with Seven
location:
8forums.com - date:
April 2, 2013
Hi all -
This laptop Asus KSeries 15.6" Laptop 4GB Memory 500GB Hard Drive K55A-SI50301P - Best Buy
arrives here tomorrow.
Need Windows 8 knowledgeable advice on how to keep the Factory Preinstalled Windows 8 in place, shrink C to install Win7 to road test them side by side.
The reason I'd like to keep the factory install onboard is because I want the option of returning it to Best Buy in 15 days for a full refund.
If it's not possible to Dual Boot in this way, I guess I could generate the Recovery Disks, wipe the HD to reinstall Win7 in UEFI or Legacy mode, then install Windows 8 to Dual Boot the way I've done before.
However it's compelling to leave the Windows 8 preinstall because I'm assured the Asus is optimize

Will Windows 8 allow developers to post Metro apps on the web for end users to freely download, or will public dissemination of Metro apps be limited to the Windows Store?
location:

There seems to be some confusion about this issue, so it'd be nice to get a definitive answer.
From the web pages Microsoft has posted which discuss enterprise customers "LOB sideloading", it sounds like the answer is "no", that there will be no way to publicly disseminate (ie.,from _anyone_ on the internet to _everyone else_ on the internet) Metro apps
other than via the Microsoft Store.
Is that correct?

New win8 installation wont automatically sleep
location:
8forums.com - date:
November 7, 2012
I have an HTPC that previously had Windows 7 installed. I have it setup to sleep automatically after 3 hours in case we accidentally leave it on. I did a Windows 8 Pro upgrade on top of it, and it ported all of my apps and settings fine.
However, no matter what I do, it won't seem to go to sleep automatically. It works perfectly fine when I do it manually. I've gone into desktop mode and verified nothing is running (nothing open on the taskbar, at least). There is no video app or anything still running that would block sleep.
How can I properly debug what may be blocking it from sleeping? Could it be some glitch where it thinks it's setup to sleep in the power options but in reality it's not?

How do I remove the original win7 partition and leave the new win8 partition?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
January 28, 2013
I installed the win8 pro download on a separate partition dual booting with Win7 home premium. I've got win8 running fine and I'm comfortable using it now and wish to delete the old Win7 partition. Everything I have tried refuses to delete that partition
because it is seen as the C: drive and the base operating system when you boot from a CD containing a partition manager and won't do anything to it when booted to WIN8. Does anyone have any suggestions that will leave me with just win8 that will still boot?
I tried using EaseUS Partition Master and repair disks.
Thanks

New Win8 Pro install hangs at the OS selector screen
location:
8forums.com - date:
June 3, 2013
The short story: I've got two Windows 8's on a machine: one OEM and one retail Pro which I just installed. The light-blue "OS Selector" screen which it boots to will hang after about 10 seconds. Within those 10 seconds, I can click to boot the OEM Windows 8, and it will boot fine. If I select the new retail Pro, it'll start booting that and then hang.
The longer story: I've got a Samsung Chronos7 laptop which has an OEM Windows 8 installed on it. For reasons which I won't go into, I got it into a strange state such that I can't use it for development work. So, I decided to install a fresh Windows 8 Pro retail next to the existing OEM version.
The install went fine. I could boot into the new Windows 8, and I started inst

New to SSDs: best practices for Win8 optimization?
location:
8forums.com - date:
February 3, 2013
Hi everyone. I recently found some terrific deals on a few SSDs (two Intel X25-M 80GBs and a Samsung 830 120GB) to rejuvenate our not-so-new PCs, while taking advantage of the cheap Windows 8 upgrade offer. I've google and read around, found some conflicting info, and am wondering what the expert opinion is on current best practices to optimize SSD usage? I'm not necessarily aiming for top-of-the-line benchmarking performance since these are ~4-5 yr old PCs, I just want to use them optimally as I can without screwing them up/wearing them out unnecessarily. I figure they can always be moved to another PC in the future when upgrading.
PCs in question are all Windows 8 x64, either Core2 Quad or Athlon X2, have 4GB RAM, and have a
